Who was it on the forum who had the quote about Disney's idea on sequels? That was genius!

well, here is the quote...but I can't remember the member..sorry.

"You hate to repeat yourself. I don't like to make sequels to my pictures. I like to take a new thing and develop something, a new concept." -Walt Disney

if only...

Personally, I'd think a Monster's INC 2 would be fantastic. Of course, I'm not exactly sure what the plot would be, so I wouldn't actually know anything or probably wouldn't like it if they left a few -cough- THINGS out.....

But more sequels? Bley. I hate sequels. Most are AWFUL. But there are some I like. I honestly doubt they'll make sequels to these movies. Perhaps ONLY Bugs life and MAYBE monsters inc...
*shrug*

I'm a sucker for sequels, not allways though. It depends.. But damn Toy Story 2 is so much better to me then the first. They definately did a great job on that sequel.

Hold on, how the heck does it make it worthless? There seems to be lots of people here who care more about their collections than the actual films. Even if they make a "Toy Story 256: Toys In Space", the Ultimate Toy Box will still be an absolutely stunning release, containing 2 great films and lots of fantastic supplements. I really cannot understand the logic of your statement. :?

As for why, I suggest everyone checks out Lukes list of top selling DVD titles here and checks out the Mulan 2 revenue. (I also suggest they check out A Shark's Tale's success too, which proves that it is medium, not story, which dictates success for animated films these days) and also check out the documentary The Corporation here which is very enlightening as to how business is run today and how it has changed since the comfortable cosy times of the 50's and 60's when "Uncle Walt" was in charge. Particularly of interest is the fact that By Law, a corporation has to put the medium to long term interests of its shareholders above any other interest - in fact
...the directors and officers of a corporation shall exercise their powers and discharge their duties with a view to the interests of the corporation and of the shareholders....

Although the wording of this provision differs from jurisdiction to jurisdiction, its legal effect does not. This provision is the motive behind all corporate actions everywhere in the world. Distilled to its essence, it says that the people who run corporations have a legal duty to shareholders, and that duty is to make money. Failing this duty can leave directors and officers open to being sued by shareholders.
You can fantasise about Eisner leaving all you want. You can fantasise about some half-arsed attempt to build up Disney films by limiting their exposure. But no matter who is in charge it ain't going to happen not while the sequels continue to build momentum and make money for the shareholders. Some people just need to live in the real world of today, rather than the fantasy world of the 1950s.

i had a nightmare, i saw the sequels ruined the most beautiful ending in a movie of all time, the end of MONSTERS INC when Sully opened the door to Boo's room. That was a poetical, bautiful and artistic ending.

Now what.. Boo as a teenager, Sully defending her against Mickael Jakson?

I was merely thinking that I would like a COMPLETE BOX SET for ALL movies.
but then if you think about it (like I did..:P), that Ultimate Toy Box will be sooo valuable.

The question is, If you hate the movie that is released, Do you buy it just to keep your collection complete?

This brings up a statistical point worth pondering.. A good deal of those who buy Disney DVD's, are collectors, so they buy 2 or 3, 1 to open, others to archive (for future Ebay sales it seems lately). So, on a statistical scale, it's foolish for Disney not to produce a 2nd or 3rd for all the Pixar movies.. every last one was a smash hit, toy revenue I'm sure was through the roof.. Kids alone will make any sequal a hit.

So, do you keep your collection complete? Or do you not bother?

Me personally, I'd buy it to have it.. I'm slowly but surely building up my Disney animated collection (have no desire for live actor films).. And I'd buy TS3 or 4 to keep the set complete..

Well, enough rambling on my first post ever! :-) Great site here.. I enjoyed reading everyone's views.

i'm not that kind of fanatic that buy craps because there is a "Disney" on it. I care much for the beauty of art in movies than the company that produced it. in my DVD collection i have only the Disney animated classics ( from Snow White to Home on the Range), PIXAR movies (separated from Disney classics as it should be) and that's all. So for me, a movie like MONSTERS don't need a sequel, the end is soo gorgeous and touching that i DON'T want to know more...

I agree.. I enjoy the disney animation classics.. I also enjoyed some of the DTV ones released.. I don't collect them cause they have the Disney logo on them, I like the animated movies better.

But, people collect, so as a business, Disney has the right idea to pump out crap knowing that 90% (Being very conserative there) are going to buy it no matter what..

And the kids will want it, so the parents will get it..

Disney will make the money, no matter what.. To them, it's worth if when it's at the expense of about 10% of the fan base not being happy.

The buzz lightyear movie is pretty bad so imagine if they are doing others ... We people of ultimate disney should buy all disney shares and this way we could make disney going the way we want :)

That's hilarious! But you shouldn't have said that; you're giving them ideas for the sequel!

As for the question of whether to buy it only for a collection, I probably would.

But I hope we won't be dissapointed. There might be some hope in this... we just gotta search for it, no matter how long that'll take... oh, I'm coming up blank. You got anything? :thumb:

....*snickers*
No, She'd only be a year older. I can prove it......or no....not REALLY, but still. Only atleast a year has gone by.....since that incident.....
Plus, her door was the same, her voice was the same and obviously Sulley remembered her. So yeah, I bet she's atleast 4 or 5.
....
..........-cough- I'm confused...

I'm iffy on it all. I would definitely want to see any sequals, and I do enjoy most of the current disney sequals...dispite some flaws. It is sad the disney and pixar aren't working together anymore, but I don't think they'll batch it up too bad. I enjoy sequals in general anyways. When I saw the end of the Lion King for the first time...the first thing I thought was "oh my gosh they're gonna make another one, but with a girl!!"

True, the sequals can never be as good as the original...by the time a sequal comes around, it's not a new fantastic thing anymore. What makes a good sequal in my mind is getting back original actors/voices, one of the reasons I don't like Return of Jafar so much...it's just not Genie without Robin Williams.

So hopefully, they can get a lot of the actors to sign on for these pixar sequals, if they happen.

I think they should do Finding Nemo 2 as Finding Dorey....I mean her family is probably looking for her..lol... "I have short term memory loss, it runs in my family.....at least I think it does..............where are they.........."

that's my 2 cents anyways...lol...I guess I went on a bit...lol

rotfl rotfl Oh man that was a priceless comment
I am not all for the pixar sequals I dont think Toy Story needs anymore sequals really the only pixar movie I could truly see a sequal for it Monsters Inc. The opening of the door was sort of like opening up another chapter, but thats just me. Anything esle like Finding Nemo and all sort of seem pointless and would runi the movie but thats just me. :)
