I don't mind you not liking the cover, but that comment really annoys me! :(

The movie isn't that bad, but I think it's almost impossible to compare to any other Disney movie. It's just too different and in my case lacks in many things that has been typical in Disney movies. -.-

Why must we compare them? If you set Home on the Range at the side of The Little mermaid or Beauty and the Beast of course it is going to appear different. Disney has a reputation of Fairy tales and princesses and musicals and pixie dust, and whenever they release a film that does not match this it always gets slated! The same thing with Atlantis and The hunchback of Notre Dame and a couple of others. I am sick of reading posts by people who say " I wish disney would do something original and not based upon a fairy tale" Well in actual fact out of Disney's last 7 filmks only one (Treasure Planet) has been based on an existing story! People keep saying "I wish Disney would do something different" and yet when they do people say "It's too different".

There is no doubt in my mind that if Home on the Range had been released in 1960 it would be heralded as a classic. In terms of story andplot development it is scarily similar to movie like "The Jungle Book", "The Aristocats" and "101 Dalmatians", yet only a few seem to realise that.

So it lacks things that are typical in Disney movies! So What? If you go in to watching a Disney movie with a list of things you expect to see, because you've seen them before in other Disney films of course you will be disappointed because you are spending the whole time looking for something that you are not going to find! Would you have prefered it if Home on the Range felt like a re-tread just because the filmmakers said to themselves "We'd better not make it different and keep it along the same lines as everything else we've done"?

Pixar and Dreamworks films have almost all been congratulated for being different, yet Disney seem stuck in a typecast little bubble and everything that they make that is different is just disregarded!

Is it not better that we are saying that they are different rather than saying that they are all the same? After all who says that just because it does not fit within the sing song, love story, fairies and pixies category it is not a proper Disney film!

This is the same sort of reason why Disney releases all of their "adult" films under the Touchstone banner, because if they had "Disney" on them a lot of people wouldn't even take them seriously!

If you had said something like "The style of the animation did not appeal to me" or "I do not like Roseanne Barr's voice" Then fine, but saying that Home on the Range is bad because "it's not a typical Disney movie" is in my honest opinion stupid!

I honestly feel that if peopel stopped expecting too much from Home on the Range and stopped comparing to "The Lion King" and "BatB" then people would probably enjoy it!

I am delighted that this movie was made and I am proud to own the DVD and I believe it (along with all the other films from the 2000s) are equally as good as any other Disney film and they all deserve to be heralded as masterpieces!

Sorry If I have offended you, but you know how much of a touchy subject Home on the Range is with me! :p

Sorry for the rant everyone! :p

With you around Ichabod, I dont have to explain why I find Home on the Range the most underrated Disney animated film of recent years, you'll do it for me. I agree with lots of stuff you wrote down. I love the art direction, the music and the simple yet silly plot of the film. never did I get the feeling this film aspired to be more than what it was. Something I can't say about Brother Bear or Treasure Planet.

I know I shoudn't compare Disney movies whith each others because it's impossible, but that's something I automatically do was it a movie or a video game made by a company who've had a quite similar line. It's just that Home on The Range didn't have any impact on me and it didn't wake up any feelings in me, so what can I say about a movie like that? It had great animation indeed, but it didn't feel like a Disney movie what I could say is good because it didn't feel good! I could actually throw Aristocats in the same cast because it didn't really impress me at all, sorry to you who likes it.

This is just my personal opinion and I don't want you to think that it's a bad movie just because I say it is, I know people who likes it and I think it's just fine, but as I said it didn't have something in it what would make me like it. I like the thing with the old fairytales and the old tales about witches and stuff, so that might be a reason too.

I hope I didn't hurt you because I really didn't intend to do that, and the comment I said before of saying it's a weak movie or something was just the first thing I thought about when I saw the movie.

I am in the same position as you, I don't exactly rave about TLK either, don't get me wrong I do love it, but I felt the whole thing was slightly rushed and it could've done with a bit more character or plot development in places, or perhaps a pause here and there.

It all just happens a bit to quickly for my tastes. e.g.:

He is presented
Next scene he is a cub
then there is a bit of plot development up until the point where he is driven into exile but I just find that as soon as he arrives with Timon and Pumbaa they start singing "Hakuna Matata" and he becomes an adult, as soon as they have finished singing HM Nala appears they sing "Can you feel the love tonight" then as soon as that's over he sees his father then he's off home.

I think That TLK3 /TLK1.5 did a good job of expanding this!

That's a movie I love with all my heart, and the first thing I get in my mind when someone says it sucks or something, I feel sad for the movie. :(

lol, don't feel sad for it, by all means it is an excellent film from start to finish. It just never moved me like Aladdin or The Little Mermaid. Two films I love with all my heart. To each his own

That is gorgeous!

Although one small point, I think the words "special edition" are kind of getting a bit lost.

I know, the picture is so small. I can be seen clearly when the picture is bigger. I wouldn't resize the text, it's fine.

Nice cover, for some reason i think it would be really cool if maybe that cover was the slipcover and it could be all shiny and stuff, then the actual cover would be different and showing all the characters and stuff? :D

Make some more covers ichabod and Jeremy!!! :)

That's what I thought about too, actually it could work out quite well. The other option that I thought about was that this could be a 2-disc SE while there was a more childish cover beside it with only one disc.

Let's hope for the best and get a possible release for the Hunchback of Notredame with a nice cover. I'm still waiting for Pocahontas SE version which hasn't got a release date yet here in Finland, hope there'll be one.
