Definitely exaggerating, Jane! I only buy every dvd I encounter if it's a good low price. Very rarely will I splurge and buy something at the SRP.
Anyways, while DVD seems to take over VHS, it'll still be here, like records. Maybe cause it's a comfort for people, like how a lot of people still keep their old records in the attic or closet. Now, they'll just keep their old vhs's in the attic or closet.

Hey,I keep my "old records" in a cabinet in the living room/by my record player hooked up to my stereo system.

I still have our vhs tapes, we still watch them. I don't buy them anymore though. Just think vhs actually outlasted laserdiscs. I know it's hard to find vhs tapes now, I find them in the bargain bins usually. It's like music cassette tapes no one sells them anymore. I think they're obsolete. Second hand stores might have them still. If something works for people I don't think the buying public are going to want to get rid of their machines and discs, refering to the blue ray/hd-dvd. It might not take off, remember how laserdisc didn't go over very well. I know someone who has one and they're stuck with it. No one will buy it. The discs were too expensive and clunky. It took a while also for dvd players to catch on since they were also expensive when they came out in the market. Gradually dvd players did go down in price, and the discs are pretty reasonable. And they did better than the laserdiscs. And most of you here in the forum have over 200 dvds and why would you just get rid of them all and get the hd-dvd player or whatever. If you spent all that money on them why would you just put it all to waste. Let the people who have the money experiement with the new hd-dvd machine. And let them find out. Why would you just buy the machine because Disney is going to put their stuff on hd-dvd as well as regular dvd. If you have the money all the luck to you. I have better things to spend my money on some fad that might not even take off.

Video is not extinct, it's just on life support and is pretty much going away everyday. This is actually a good thing, though. I won't say that video deserves to die, as it should gain respect as the pioneer of bringing movies into the home to the masses. The good reason for it's death is that it's persuading many (including me) to upgrade vids to DVD, something I feel most should try and do, especially considering that you could face a nightmaric feeling of not being able to watch certain movies when the VCR finally broke...

DVD's have already taken over. I know I can't get enough of them (literally).
