What happened with the Thundercats?

Is it the best selling DVD since the original Star Wars trilogy? Is that WB didn't make enough copies of it? Is it both?

... the reason for not being able to find it anywhere?

That was probably my most anticipated DVD since Aladdin (and maybe The Nightmare on Elm St. Collection). So I was counting the days to finally get it.

This is what happened to me today.

Woke up early in the morning to go to Walmart.... and couldn't find my credit card anywhere; in the end I had it reported lost just in case. Anyways, I wasn't going to be without it so I asked my grandma if she could get it for me using Walmart's credit. Went there, they didn't have it. Then went to Sams, didn't have it either. Called Spec's Music.... ran out of stock. Called Suncoast: they only had 8, were for preorders only and didn't have it yet either. Checked on costco's web site: is not listed. Checked walmart's: out of stock. Checked dvdempire: on order.

Finally I checked on amazon to see if they still had copies and they did. So I placed my order to be delivered on Thursday. I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Does anybody here knows what happened? Or somebody got a copy at least?

I haven't looked for it yet; however I can't imagine I'll have much difficulty finding it. There are a few pretty good DVD specialty stores in Toronto, and a big HMV and Sam's that carry most DVD releases, even the more obscure/less demanded ones.

Wal-Marts web site shows it in stock.

They are also now taking Star Wars Episode III pre-orders for 15.87

Well. wish you luck then.

But the thing I was surpised about the release was that Walmart didn't carry it having TONS of TV shows on DVD (and most not that popular). And SAMS had The Fantastic Four seasons. So how come they didn't have Thundercats that's produced by WB?

Well, they were out of stock the whole day.

...anyways, someone had the same problems to get a copy. Someone's got it?

PS

Plus there were no sites I could find that had it reviewed already.

How much of a review do you need on a cartoon that you probably watched growing up

Wow, poor you EGJ. And welcome back! Where the heck have you been?! But glad to know you're back and alive!

Anyways, I saw it at Best Buy today. Really neat packaging especially with the cool hologram. :) It's selling for $53ish so I'm going to get it at Wal-Mart with a store credit card I have from them. I saw it at Wal-Mart, but I didn't take a look at the price. Wal-mart's too crowded for me and I get annoyed...:shifty:

Thank you!

I didn't know the cover had a hologram. You can't tell in any of the web sites pics.

Well, my set is coming this thursday (shipped by UPS). Besides of wanting it NOW. I also want to be able to spend time with it since just after that date I'll start classes again.

PS

Did they have plenty of copies at Bestbuy and Walmart?

5 copies at Best Buy and a whole display of Thundercats at Wal-Mart. I dunno know why it wasn't advertised! People should reflect back on the good ol' 80s. 8)

Neither did I, until I picked it up at Best Buy! And I started moving it and (I think) it's detachable from othe set itself! Looks pretty cool to me!

Any comments on this worrying thread MMP? (Who I assume is in 80's Cartoon heaven right now)

http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum ... did=239660

This sounds especially wrong:
THE UNHOLY ALLIANCE- THE ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK IS MISSING! You hear it in French and Spanish but it's nowhere to be heard in the English track.

So it does seem like WB didn't make that many copies.

I wonder why if they must have known of the huge fan base and besides, they did a very good job with the Batman Animated Series.

So, no one here has got the set yet?

2099net:

I've read those issues before. I hope it isn't such a HUGE problem. Altough it IS disappointing given the fact that I read that the He-man Special Edition supossedly (I haven't got that DVD) got a remastered a video and audio transfer; and MUCH better extras.

Well, I finally got it!!!

The box is actually quite nice. The DVD cases are just ok.

The quality? Video: goes from horrible to just alright. The audio: so much better than what I've read.... maybe because I listen to it in Spanish (that's how I grew uo with them) and it sounds loud and clear; not missing any kind of music.

But, just to finally have the Thundercats on DVD is the best thing. Sadly the set is not complete but given the price it is sold, I think it was for the best.

In the end I do think these series are going to be hard to find unless it's online.

So I'll start saving money for the next half of the season.

PS

And by the way, the series are as GREAT as I thought. Sometimes there are series where you think they were the best just because.... then you watch it again and your're like  . But the THUNDERCATS are extremely good.

Hey, Evil Genie Jafar are you going to get He-man and the Masters of the Universe? It's coming out on October 18.

Nope. I wasn't a big fan of He-man. I mean, I did like the show but not loved it. Much less to get it. The only series I wanted to get from the 80's were TMNT and Thundercats.

I would eventually get the 2 disc edition with the 10 episodes. That's enough for me.

So what about you and the Thundercats?

PS

I was going to ask you where did you get the pic of the next Simpsons' seasons?

Normally, I would scold for doing a blind buy on an 80s show you haven't seen (surprisingly..), but it is Thundercats and they were awesome. 8)

EGJ, about MMP's avatar, it was on this <a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/forum/vie ... >thread</a>.

But you can on TVshowsonDVD.com to see the picture too.

Out of curiousity, are there any other girls who watched Thundercats?...

What happens with the Thundercats DVD? I'm wondering since, it's rather difficult to find them.

Most stores didn't have them at their release date, in some online stores they're already out of stock, and some stores sell these sets for around $70. What gives? Is this some kind of joke or what?

I know there was a problem with the first run.

At least one episode had the wrong language soundtrack on it.

Perhaps they have been pulled for a second pressing?
