1 TV SHOWS (season sets) ON DVD
Bring ALL of the Disney owned TV Shows on DVD, every cartoon and live action series. I guarantee shows like Boy Meets World, Home Improvement, and cartoons like Ducktales will sell like hotcakes.
2 Speed Up Platinum
Speed up the platinum releases, and have EVERYTHING about the films that can possibly be fit on the discs. Bring out classics like Cinderella, 101 Dalmations, and The Little Mermaid faster than planned. Maybe 3 a year?
1 in February. 1 in July. And 1 in October.
3 Toon Disney
Make it available on basic cable, like Disney. Personnally, I think Toon Disney would get FAR more viewers than Disney Channel if it was on basic cable.
4 Change Target Audience
Appeal to the family again, not 8-12 year old girls. Especially with the Disney Channel. Great ideas about 1 classic film a night.
I would have: one made-for-tv movie, followed by a classic, everynight.
And on Toon Disney, a full length animated movie everynight, either classics or sequels or stuff like A Goofy Movie, or The Brave Little Toaster.
5 EXPAND/MORE THEMEPARKS
Make one based solely on animated classics, THE CLASSIC KINGDOM. Another based completely on the tv shows. THE TELEVISED WORLD OF DISNEY. Another park, with 6 different divisions, called BLAST FROM THE PAST, with THE 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s. All themed on the specific decades. Build a hotel/club called THE HOUSE OF MOUSE, for the entire family, with musical and comic appearances, with occassional stage acts, MC'd by Mickey Mouse.[/b]

That would be SOOOO cool!!!

I love the idea about the TV shows, especially season sets. I agree with speeding up the Platinum, but could we have more of the older Live Action movies released, as well as the newer P&S versions re-released?

Yeah, I know, you're not Eisner... Oh well.

Let's see now, if I were in charge of Disney...
1) Fire all current marketing people. They cannot market a movie properly. Emperor's New Groiove had a horrible campaign, but was incredibly funny and well-done. It deserved much better than it got, as have all recent Disney features. Better marketing, step one.
2) Keep Pixar. Don't care what the cost is. Give John Lassiter anything he wants, money, women, sammiches, anything. Make sure that Disney and Pixar are forever linked in the public consciousness.
3) Re-start a new set of Silly Symphonies. This time, Instead of being simply R&D for features, they're a way of building bridges with animators and musicians. Put a Silly Symphony in front of every Disney movie, and sell them to theaters for them to put up with any movie they see fit. Off the top of my head get John Lassiter to direct a new SS, John Kricfalusi, even talk to Seth MacFarlane and Matt Groening, see if they'll hop on board.
4) Talk to Hayao Miyazaki and see if he'd be interested in making an American animated feature. Again, give him anything he wants, money women, sammiches, whatever. And build some bridges with other Studio Ghibli directors, producers and animators.
5) Spend a little freaking money on the parks!!!!!!!!!! I cannot stress this one enough. The reason people go to Disneyland or Disney World is to get an experience they can't get anywhere else. When you add in rides like the Aladdin or the Triceratopspin ride, you ruin the magic of what made these parks great. Money in the parks. Big rides that are on the cutting edge of technology. More things like Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye, and the Roger Rabbit ride at Disneyland. Better yet, get some of the guys working on Tokyo Disneyland to work on the American resorts. Remember, when it comes to entertainment, you have to spend money to make money. This is something Frank Wells understood, but Michael Eisner doesn't (unless of course, the money is being spent on him)
6) Fix ABC. Get the best writers, producers, actors, in short the best shows on ABC. And keep them in a specific weekly schedule. None of this schedule hop-scotch that seems so popular for some reason. Consistency will build fanbases.
7) No more crappy sequels! Ok, the Disney brand, at this point, has been watered down so it has no meaning anymore. Stop with the cheap crap to make a quick buck. Be long sighted and rebuild the name in consumers' minds. This means no more cheapquels (which you'll notice I'm not even putting in quotes anymore).

Increase pay to more than minimum wage. Significantly more. Make Disney a place where people want to work not simply because of the association with the legacy of Walt and his amazing creators, but also because it's a fincanially sound thing to do. Again, this comes back to the whole "spending money to make money thing"
9) A new set of theatrical shorts for all of Disney classic characters. Mickey, Goofy, Donald, Pluto, Minnie, everyone. This will bring them back to public's attention and, more importantly, to children's attention.
10) Release season sets of some of Disney's more popular shows. Ducktales, Rescue Rangers, Tailspin, and Gummi Bears are a must. Recess, Weekenders, Proud Family, and others are great candidates when they've gained a little more notice. Also, release the first season of Monk on dvd, not just the pilot (Ok, so this is a little thing for me, but hey I'm fixing the rest of the company, I deserve my own pet project)
11) Buy DC Comics from Warner Brothers. Ok, addmitedly, this really has more to do with the fact that I'd like to see someone do something good with all these great characters and it might as well be Disney. I've got a whole set of stuff to do to fix DC Comics, but that's thread for another time.
And there you have it. Ten (or eleven) simple steps to fixing the Walt Disney Company.
I said something before but...

As the last person stated, Disney needs to STOP making direct to video sequels of their animated features (recent and classic ones). The quality is not the same, even a 3 yr old can see it. It gives Disney a bad name! I would write them if I could...Snow White 2? Cinderella 2? Enough is enough.

I think that it's fine to make a few sequels, I mean, I liked Neverland and Jungle Book 2. But they both went to theaters. Isn't it okay to make a few???

if i was running disney, the first thing i would do is lower the prices so poor shlobs like me, can afford to stay longer!

i think by lowering the prices, more people would come to visit disney world. i would also lower the prices on merchandise so more could be bought and lower the prices on food so everyone can enjoy the delicious food in the restaurants. most of all, i would love that $2.50 bottle of water to $1 because $2.50 is ridiculous for a bottle of water, dont' you think?
this is just what i would do. like it would ever happen anyway. but one can dream cant they?

If I was running the Not-So-Great-Anymore Walt Disney Company I would make sure all their movies released on DVD would get the same treatment* with a theme game, trailers, restoration, animated shorts, sing-alongs, the making off..., deleted songs, scenes... These Masterpiece DVDs would be decorated with stylish and meaningful covers that would all match up together.
?I would never let any Disney Movie be "underrated". I would sell merchandise, make it popular, edited if necessary, anything to keep all these movies part of a great family.
*All part of the Walt Disney Classic Collection, and I mean ALL. From Snow White to Brother Bear.

If I were running Disney, what would I do? Do you really want to know? In no perticular order, here's my list for things to do right after I personally slap Eisner hard accross the face and sack him.
1) Get down on all fours and BEG Steve Jobs to renew the Pixar contract. Agree to any terms he wants, AND transfer sequel rights for the earlier films to Pixar.
2) Revive 2D animation with another legendary fairy tale - namely, Rapunzel. None of this CGI comedy junk I've been hearing about this project - this would ideally be a big, Broadway-esque musical extravagenza a la Beauty and the Beast. Get Alan Menken and Tim Rice on this, NOW. Make it a big, lavish, 2.35:1 production, with Glen Keane directing. Rehire all of the animators Disney's sacked recently and beg them to work on this project.
3) Appologize to the WDFA Flordia employees for how they've bene treated. Immidately greenlight collector's edition gift sets of Mulan, Lilo & Stitch, and Brother Bear, all to feature 2-disc special editions of the films (also available seperately) and whatever else WDFA FL wants to throw in. Ask them to personally raid their archives for extra material, and give them the guarentee that anything and everything they want to include will be included.
4) Immidately discontinue the single-disc editions of New Groove, Atlantis, Dinosaur, etc. and give the collector's editions price drops to $29.95 and repromotions. Bring out a re-release of Tarzan in IMAX format, and then re-release the collector's edition with an added featurette on the re-release but no tweakings with the transfer.
5) As soon as the Pixar contract is sealed, get Pixar working to bring the original Toy Story up to snuff for that once-planned but scrapped IMAX release in 3-D. Also, ask them to digitally reformat it a la all of their other films. Do the same thing with all of the other Pixar films and release them to IMAX at a one-every-six-months time period. Then re-release the Ultimate Toy Box at a $40 retail price with an added featurette about the IMAXification and 3-D conversion. Make this set an affordable, relatively mass marketed product a la The Lord of the Rings Extended
Editions. Also release a boxed set of the collector's editions of all five Pixar movies to date with a free ticket to see The Incredibles.
6) Beg Gary Trousdale to return to Disney instead of continuing at his new job at DreamWorks. Then reunite him with Kirk Wise to complete and re-edit a director's cut version of Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
6) Re-release the Beauty and the Beast DVD as a 3-disc set in 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen featuring the special edition on disc one, the original and WIP cuts on disc two, and the extras on disc 3. Also, add the original 1991 making-of doccumentary to the third disc, as well as the 1994 Disney Channel doccumentary on the evolution and creation of the Broadway stage show version. Also re-release The Hunchback of Notre Dame as the 2-disc deluxe edition we were teased with, in true 1.66:1, not 1.85:1. Also do this for any other misframed animated classics. Offer free replacements and upgrades to everyone who bought the original discs. Put the Beauty and the Beast re-release in a double-thick keepcase to match Snow White, put Belle and the Beast on the spine instead of Lumiere, and get rid of the I on the spine. Oh, yeah, and add Cogsworth to the front cover, too.
7) Re-release each and every catalog title in anamorphic widescreen OAR with the theatrical trailer in OAR 16x9 as well. Discontinue the P&S versions. Also reissue the 20k Leagues and Love Bug setswith inserts and a huge event level marketing campign under the Vault Disney label. Discontinue the SE labelled versions. Beg the DVD producers who worked on the Witch Mountian and Apple Dumpling Gang DVDs to go back and make them 2-disc editions as well. Reissue them under Vault Disney and discontinue the current versions.
8 ) Stop the cheapquels except for The Lion King and Pooh! Retitle The Lion King 1 1/2 to "The Lion King: Hakuna Matata." Release it and Simba's Pride on special edition DVD. Also release Pooh's Grand Adventure on DVD. Then burn all of the film elements for all the other cheapquels and let them rot in hell. Destroy all evidence of their exsistance.
9) Delay The Lion King DVD a few months, so that we may be able to do several things to improve it. First off, get rid of the speciial edition cut. Second, make sure the theatrical cut is the theatrical cut. Third, all of the features mentioned in my fantasy gift set thread as being on a fantasy third disc get ported over to disc two. Anything else missing from the laserdisc would also be ported over. Also, ask Rob Minkoff, Roger Allers and Don Hahn to record a second commentary track reflecting on the movie today. Include this as well as the 1995 commentary from the laserdisc to show how time, and the success of the film, has affected them. Record a third commentary track with Julie Taymor, director of the Broadway show, on the challenges and rewards of translating the movie into a theatrical musical. Record a fourth commentary with cast members. Include all four commentaries on disc one, and move all of the extra features currently on disc one to disc two. Also, re-encode the Enhanced Home Theater mix to DTS 6.1 surround sound. Offer the original theatrical mix in DD5.1, as well as the original Spanish and French dubs also in DD5.1. Also, for the love of God change the cover to match the other two Platinums - silver bar, thankyouverymuch, and redesign the coveer to include Mufassa on Pride Rock with Rafikki and the hyenas with Scar. Looking at the cover, there is a blank space over in the left corner. Put some animals there bowing to Simba. And PLEASE, get the Lion King logo out of the middle of adult Simba's neck. Put it at the top.
10) Immidately greenlight OAR 16x9 2-disc special editions of every animated classic in the company's history for release throughout 2004 and 2005. Every forthcoming classic should also get this treatment. Begin the long-forgotten cycle of theatrical re-releases every seven years for each and every classic.
11) Delay the Brother Bear theatrical release until January-April, 2004 so that it can have less competion and really get a chance to play well. Give it the biggest theatrical marketing campign in Disney history so it's impossible for anyone to turn on the TV without hearing about it at least once before they turn it off. Delay Home on the Range until maybe September 2004 so that Brother Bear can play uninterrupted, and then give Home on the Range the same kind of push. In turn delay Incredibles until Christmas 2004.
12) Greenlight an immidate remake of The Princess Diaries and make it more faithful to Meg Cabot's original source material.
13) In addition to the reworked release dates for Brother Bear and Home on the Range, re-release Treasure Planet in traditional and IMAX theaters in a less crowded spot in 2004 or 2005. Give it a better marketing campign and try to get people to notice this underrated gem. Same goes with Atlantis when Wise and Trousdale finish the director's cut I've begged them to do. Obviously, discontinue the DVDs during the re-releases and bring them back out shortly afterwords. Treasure Planet would then be a 2-disc SE, of course, and the Atlantis DVD would feature everything on the current collector's edition plus more, and seamless branching to allow access to the both director's cut and original versions of the movie.
14) Oh, yeah, another re-release: this time for Spirited Away, in an excessively wide release (to the extent of Waners' rollout of Harry Potter and The Matrix sequels.) Get this one a huge campign, too, and really bring in people to see this wonderful cinematic miracle. Then, begin to release Studio Gibli's features on the big screen 6-10 months before bowing a DVD special edition (and go back and release Kiki's Delivery Service and Castle in the Sky to the big screen, too.
15) Sack David Stantion and appoint Roy E. Disney Head of Feature Animation.
16) Release all of the classic TV shows on DVD in season sets - the animated classic spinoffs, Gargoyles, House of Mouse; any really good shows like Home Improvement and Boy Meets World; and pretty much anything and everything else they have. Period.
17) Recall the Sleeping Beauty R1 DVD and reissue it with the sane content under the Platinum banner NOW. Also, use the ORIGINAL cover design for the reissue, just replace Special with Platinum. Of course, offer free replacements to anyone who bought it already.
18 ) Begin the 2-per-year Platinum plan in 2004. Add Pinocchio, Fantasia and Peter Pan this cycle and release as many per year as is needed to complete the cycle by 2007.
19) Anything Disney has ever censored - Roger Rabbit, cartoojn shorts, Lion King's "S-E-X," anything - will be destroyed in the censored version and the original theatrical version will be made available. Offer replacements for current owners who want them.
20) Greenlight Hanzel and Grettel as a big 2D animated musical just like Rapunzel would ideally be.
21) Release Song of the South in R1, unedited and uncensored, as a 2-disc special edition. Also release So Dear to My Heart to coincide, also as a 2-disc set, and offer a 4-disc two-pack.
21) Bring the collectables and cool things back to Disney Stores.
22) Bring back the classic -- and new -- animated shorts by playing one in front of every Walt Disney Pictures theatrical release.
23) Bring exact carbon copies of the Broadway stage versions of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, and Aida to the parks, free with park admission. Keep them there perminantely.
More later maybe.

My ideas are:
1.Re-issue full-screen DVD's to anamorphic widescreen special editions.
2.Re-issue all animated Disney movies in IMAX and double feature form.
3.Bring back the animated shorts.
4.Give Pixar a new contract.
5.Release Song Of The South in 2-disc special edition.
6.Take full control of Miramax(horrible advertising for films Below,Equillbrium,Duplex,Kill Bill, and They.)
7.Release Home On The Range.
8.Buy another indpendent studio.
9.Build a third theme park in the U.S.
10.Make real sequels(Sleeping Beauty ends halfway,Pete's Dragon had a wide open ending).
11.Re-issue Tron, and The Black Hole in theatres.
12.Give underrateds(Black Cauldron,Great Mouse Detective) a chance.
13.Bring DuckTales to DVD.
14.Change Disney Channel back to its glory days in the early-mid 90's.
15.Bring back Walt Disney Presents.
16.Stop piracy on Disney films.
17.Stop making cheap rip-offs on Disney films.
18.No more Shia LeBeouf films.
G'Day!
