Well since DisneyFan 2000 is from England (I think), he may be looking for the (superior) R2 Red Leatherbookium Edition which may be harder to get...

I was looking at the release list...

...sure enough Beauty and the Beast does say next to it October 2012, but if you click on it...it shows as being October 2009!

Ichabod's list

Ichabod's updated UK list has turned out very close to the one i had thought of :)

Must be very close veeeeery close to the real final US releases when they're announced officially.

Since in my list I was trying to follow more of an original theatrical chronological order I hadn't included the most modern ones yet and for example in some cases like Pinocchio and Snow White I would have traded places, but mmm 6 months difference is just a drop in time. ;)

You didn't put anything on the March '10 spot. That's where I put Sleeping Beauty.

Or I also would think they could go for a SuperDuper Platinum Double Feature on '10 that would coincide with the 70th and 10th anniversaries of Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 respectively instead of doing it on '11, but if they wanna release it 1 year late :P well that can be some of that cool Disney's anti-logic, no? ;)

mmm Platinatum years!

I started late as you. So you should, like I did, look out on ebay, half.com, amazon for good deals. Check used dvd shops also (thats where I got my copy for $20).
Does E-Bay deliver to countries other than the US?
Thanks for the tips! I'll be checking all my options... :)

I'm from Israel actually (though I've lived in England). You are correct. I'm searching for the R2 version of the film...

Yes, but 2012 is the updated schedule. I've already seen the October 2009 release date months ago.

Ebay is an auction site, and since you are in the UK, you look at the UK one, it depends on individual sellers where they ship to.

Have a look here, I done the search for Beauty and the Beast DVD for you already and here are the results:

I think this is kind of funny because almost all of the OOP Disney DVDs except the Limited Issues are still available in my area. Sorry, I just got a kick out of it...

:? I'm so very confused. They're rereleasing the Platinums just because they made it available for a limited time and then locked them in the vault? Or should I buy the rerelease because it will include more features? I'm confused. Would there be a point to buying the rereleased version if I already have the original Platinum addition.

The only ones I think I'll double dip with is Lady and the Tramp, Peter Pan and Sleeping Beauty since apparently they are now in the Platinum collection. :) Though I'm glad Fantasia, Fantasia 2000 and Pinnochio are Platinums because I don't have those yet and my VHS are really old (except for Fantasia 2000 of course). Speaking of Fantasia, it's 65th anniversary is this year! Anyone see the awesome Fantasia cover of the Spring Preview DisneyDiret catalog?

Also, DisneyFan2000, do you know anyone in the US who could buy BatB for you and then send it to you? Did you try looking in the Trades forum?

I have no idea how the trade could work. I don't have PayPal and my parents are sceptical of giving away their credit card number (they barely let me buy from the web! Only Amazon). So that option is out of the question...

To your question, I doubt much will be added to the Platinums. Maybe a feature or two but it will most likely stay the same. It's supposed to sell to a new generation with each release...

Well, I live in Massachusetts, but near my Grammy's house which is in Hampton, NH, there is a small video shop that has Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Tarzan: CE, Beauty and the Beast, Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King. Also, in Methuen, MA at the Rockingham Mall they have some OOPs. I bought my Snow White there. I bought my Tarzan: CE at the video place.

**However at the video store, those movies are most definatley sold out, but about a month ago, they had full stock.

I really don't know how to answer that. I have already purchased my Platinums and I have absolutley no idea if they will be adding more material. By time the rereleased movies come out, and I have a new system (Blu-Ray :D ), which hopefully can also play DVDs, and I will have my own money I will double dip Cinderella and The Little Mermaid which are my two favourite Disney movies!

Some sellers may be willing to post to Israel, all you have to do is look what they say on their listing or email them to ask.

March - Pinocchio
October - Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
I hope this is right, Ichabod as I missed out on Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs the first time around (*Lifts foot and firmly kicks self*) and would really like to get it (but I refuse to pay the exorbinate prices online. I think I can wait the couple more years.

Listen, the REAL reason Disney "locks 'em up in the vault" for 7 years is because they expect you to BUY a new version every 7 years. Whoa...good marketing. In some cases, it's actually worked with me. I was buying the very early VHS releases of some titles, I bought some of the re-releases for whatever reason, then again on dvd. For example, I bought Pinocchio VHS circa 1985, again in the early 90s, again on dvd in about 1999 and I'll probably buy it again if it comes out again and looks even a little bit better than the old dvd (which is very grainy). So that's one success story there.

Then I bought the original Sleeping Beauty vhs in 1986? 1987? Again on vhs when it was released on Widescreen video, and again in the recent dvd 2-disk edition. Wow.

I also have had 4 Alice in Wonderlands and pretty much at least 2 of EVERYTHING else up to Mulan, which was the first movie I ever bought SOLELY on dvd (1999-ish). So everything after Mulan, I have only on dvd. Everything before that, I have either one or two VHS copies and one or two dvds.

Sometimes their marketing doesn't work, like in the case of Mulan. I have the original dvd, don't think much of Mulan as a movie, and so didn't bother to buy the recent 2-disk set. It's not that important to me. However, there's puh-lenty of dvds that I would not mind replacing with better, upgraded versions (101 Dalmations, Pinocchio, Jungle Book...) but if and when better versions become available, I'll get 'em or not. So I'm still looking at 3 or 4 purchases for each of these films over my lifetime. So far. I am not yet taking into account the possibility of other, better FORMATS that will one day replace the dvd itself...agh, what a pain that'll be.

Don't give up and don't get disheartened in trying to find OOP Dvd's as you may be surprised. Don't necessarily limit yourself to new Dvd's as well, consider used ones. If they're all scratched to heck, then you can get them replaced through Disney's disc replacement program. That's what I'm doing with my Silly Symphonies disc 2, which I bought used from Blockbuster video. It's scratched enough to cause a major error on the short Peculiar Penguins.

Look everywhere, it pays off majorly. I was able to locate a copy of Sleeping Beauty over a year after it went back into the vault, a copy of Mickey Mouse In Living Color 4 years after it's initial release, a copy of Silly Symphonies 4 years after it's initial release, and a copy of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs 3 years after it went out of print (I haven't got this one yet, but I am in the process of getting it). All of these were found in stores in my area, and I didn't need to go online. I am using online as a last resort.

Now if I could only find The Complete Goofy and Mickey Mouse In Black And White Volume 1 to complete the Treasures I really want.

Are you referring to the DVD? :o I haven't been able to find it anywhere here, only the VHS! Am I missing something?

And yes, I didn't start collecting until after its retirement.
