I agree completely, i also can't stand those stupid side snaps. The first DVD I got that had them was the 50's Western Classic Tin Star with Henry Fonda and Anthony Perkins. Then Recently I bought If A Man Answers, That Funny Feeling, Come September, and Houseboat and they all had those stupid side snaps to. I like the regular cases much better.

In my case, the first DVD with those "locks" was RED DRAGON. I remember that they were so tight, they went inside my fingernails (ouch); it wasn't serious but it hurt.

...And going back to the white cases...

You're so right about that Disney keeps them:

1) but I tought that the animated classics that have still have them was becuase Disney still had them, once they're over they'd put them in black cases

2) Then again they still have them for most of their releases but not the new animated clasics.... and that's because...

Um...I'm probably the only one here but...I like the side snaps. Maybe because it does make the case secure. The first one I found with the side snaps was Galaxy Quest, and later The River Wild. I think those and Mary Poppins are the only ones I have with snaps, but I really don't mind them at all.
