"Home on the Range" was imho the best Disney animated film for years. It reminds me at the great Chuck Jones films in the 50's or some great Warner classics. Yes, it doesn't look like Disney - but who cares? A movie has to be fun - and I DID have fun watching it.
"Brother Bear" was boring to hell, "Atlantis" was the poor try of Disney to copy Mangas and "Treasure Planet" (although I enjoyed it) was kind of weird with the stupid robot.
"Home on the Range" maybe is no "Lion King" or "Beauty and the Beast", but it's much better than a lot of those silly and boring movies described as "masterpieces" i.e. Mulan, Pocahontas or the Black Cauldron.

I haven't seen it since theaters (though the DVD is on the way in the mail), but the only beef I recall having with it is the quality of the jokes. As a few others have pointed out, gas gags get old fast. Sure, little kids are amused by it. Disney's classics, however, have managed to thoroughly and enduringly amuse children without appealing to the common denominator. Even The Lion King managed to use gas gags without feeling immatue. This is where the film fails the most, but fortunately it's not too distracting.

I enjoyed Home on the Range but it is kind of forgettable. My favourite aspect of the movie is the style of animation, I loved it. As for the rest, good but not one of my favourites. My favourite Disney movie in the past few years is Brother Bear which seems to have gotten quite a bashing in this thread.

ah well people have their opinions even if they are wrong.

My Home On The Range dvd came this morning!
I just finished watching it now and the truth is i enjoyed it.
I loved the start, that song was great! And i loved the way the animation was done....I was surprised that i actually got quite into it as i have heard so many reviews about it.
I mean, the animation style i loved, the characters were good, overall just a really nice Disney film, i mean its no amazing classic as many will agree but i dont see why everyone has to be so negative about it....i was thinking if this was CGI it would be huge.....maybe the storyline lacked a little bit but nothing major.
1 thing that annoys me so much is the cover, it saddens me looking at it. If you look inside the Lion King 2 discover dvd booklet the coming soon cover for HOTR looks sooooooooooo good! The colours and just everything compared to the blue tacky cover that they used! And whats the deal with the floating images ahhhhh!!!! And where did that blue sky come from...lol???
Anyway overall i enjoyed the film. If you havent already brought it then i suggest you do, im going to get Brother Bear and Dinasour soon as these are both classics i still havent seen.........

Dinosaur is another extremely weak movie. If you saw The Land Before Time you'll notice there's no comparison between the 2.
Brother Bear in the other hand, once you watch it you'll understand that's so, but so much better than HotR.
