According to film site Dark Horizons, Disney has plans to release a 3D sequel to the video game film, using the same technology in previous 3D efforts such as Chicken Little and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Wow, somebody at Dark Horizons is a moron at distinguishing the difference between the types of "3D" used for those two films.
And it's weird seeing something I posted three years ago being brought up again. But my opinion still hasn't changed on a remake. However, I wouldn't mind a sequel. I just hope it turns out better than the comic series did. The artwork failed to impress me and the storyline was confusing.

Official Teaser Poster

Not much else is known about the project at this time, but a number of viral marketing websites have gone back online.
Flynn Lives
Home of TRON: History of Flynn's Arcade
The sequence of Bit-like images on the Flynn Lives page have been confirmed to be a countdown in binary code. It is widely believed to be counting down to the unveiling of the first official Teaser Trailer, but the list of major cities beneath the countdown, and the history of 42 Entertainment, which created these and the viral campaigns for The Dark Knight, suggest it could be something more agressive. At the time of this posting (02/22/20101, 1:21am EST), the countdown has approximately 2 days, 09 hours, 38 minutes and 48 seconds left (which means the countdown would end at 11:00am EST on Wednesday, February 24th 2010).
BlackCauldron85 and myself will keep to page as up-to-date and informed as possible.
Cheers,
JM

That looks exactly like the DVD.
They're just remaking it, aren't they? Though nothing will ever replace the original.

I have been looking everywhere for a youtube vid of that showing. From the descriptions I've read of the footage, though, I don't think that vid is the real teaser shown.
There is no new footage shown, and no old Jeff Bridges shown either. Also, I believe that aside from the film soundtrack played against this footage, there is also some music from Battlestar Galactica season 1 soundtrack by Bear McCreary.
I'm pretty sure this is a fan trailer, but it still gets me excited to see this new footage that everyone is talking about. I hope someone posts it soon

Does Flynn go back into the program to search for the perfect rug that ties the room together? The Flynn abides.

Not a remake, this is a true sequel.

Oh, so it's like Superman Returns, in that they're continuing an old movie with new actors?
I read somewhere that they planned to remake Tron, and thought that it could never be as good as the 1982 one I know and love. (To be fair, I didn't even know what Tron was until I was at a computer camp and we were all playing Armagetron over the LAN... I then got home and looked it up

)

Apparently 24- and 32-bit colour depths didn't do them much good inside the computers.

If it shows up on YouTube again, give me the link and I'll mirror it on drfsupercenter.info.
Unlike them, I don't care about the DMCA.

lol, Mike- thanks! So, that video has been taken down. I don't know if there's a Disney spy on UD, and I sure don't want to get booted, so my advice would be to go on YouTube and type in "TR2N" or "Tron 2" until you get to see the trailer!

Yeah, they keep getting removed...
If I find any I can upload the .flv file to my server. (Which, BTW, won't be back up until August 1 due to the bandwidth being exceeded)
I don't get why Disney removes trailers anyway... if anything it serves as good advertising!
--EDIT--
I tried some searches and all I found were Rickrolls and horrible quality ones that were taped with a video camera.
Does anyone remember the username of the uploader? I can PM them and ask if I can have the source file... that will look way better than downloading a tiny camrip that's compressed as FLV...
