I don't think interest has declined. Let's face it, wave 3 was put out with almost no publicity and in the middle of the year. The other waves did better I suspect due to Christmas sales.
And it doesn't matter if shops still have copies of wave 3 left. Wave 3 was a success for Disney because it looks like they have moved all their copies into retail.
Do a search on
www.deepdiscountdvd.com and none come up, and
DVDEmpire is listing most as "Currently Unavailable" leaving me to speculate all wholesale copies are now distributed to vendors.
So what does Disney care if a few are left over in shops 6 months after release. Disney had a limited number to shift and they succeeded 100% They couldn't have more success! It's impossible.
While Disney projects limited numbers which they are happy with, and continue to make a profit which they are happy with (which obviously are, or they would never have released them in limited numbers and thus cap the profit potential) the treasures will continue to be released.
And that's just the US - remember the Treasures collections (or some of them anyway) are being sold all over the world!

LOL - Still bitter about last year's delay Christian?

I also email Leonard Maltin to inquire about the future of the treasures series, and her gave a bit nore information about the other aspects of Disney apart from the shorts!
Hi... there are no definite decisions yet on the future contents of our Treasures series, but I'm happy to say that the Disney folks want us to continue. I'm sure we'll continue releasing the Donald Ducks, get to the rest of the Sillly Symphonies, and the "miscellanous" cartoon shorts, and do more from the Disneyland television shows... We want very much to do the True-Life Adventures and People and Places as well, but no word as yet on when that might happen. I hope you continue to enjoy the series... cheers, Leonard Maltin
Yay! People and Places may be on their way!

- will we see chip and dale anytime soon?
-when will we see the short "no sail"?

About a couple of days.
In response to your earlier post I don't think Leonard Maltin has anything to do with the packaging for the treasures. I am sure he is just there to compile the content and give the introductions.
I think the short No Sail will be on the next donald compilation or the one after that depending on how many cartoons they put on volume 2.
And as for chip and dale, well that i don't know and leonard is probably the only one who can, although i personally doubt we will see a treasures set devoted completely to Chip and Dale, even if we did I personally wouldn't buy it anyway. I am sure those 3 chip and dale cartoons will be added to one of the donald compilations, or will be on one of the 'miscellaneous collections!

I know he has nothing to do with the packaging conditions, but maybe, being so close to the project, he would know what the deal is.
There are only 3 C&D shorts?? isn't there a volume coming out with 7-8 of them?

the volume includes Donald cartoons with Chip N Dale as co-stars. But they would be released in the Donald Treasures.

I meant there are only 3 C+D shorts where they do not star alongside a main characte like donald or pluto.

To put it differently: There were only three shorts with the Chip & Dale title card at the beginning. The little guys appear in (and could even be considered stars of) quite a number of shorts, but most of them are DD shorts (with the DD title card) and are most likely to be part of the forthcoming DD Treasures. If they were going to make a C&D Treasure that would mean quite a bit of "double dipping".

As long as everything is released somehow I'm a happy camper.

Ciaobelli, check smirnoffski's Sticky shorts/character list at the top of this forum. Also you could check the Chip & Dale list I made from a R2/PAL buyers perspective on the International forum in the Chip & Dale topic talking about those 2 European discs

I haven't checked each specific title, but I'd say probably not one of these has been released in the Treasures so far, but most them will likely be included in the forthcoming Donald Duck sets. As for the titles of the C&D series we can only speculate.

Leonard Maltin's e-mail address does not appear to be listed on his website any longer. At least I was unable to find it on his site. I was planning to e-mail him about the 3-4 seconds missing on The Castaway, since his recent article addressed errors such as that on other DVD releases.
Do you have or remember what Leonard Maltin's e-mail address is?
