While not a true 'rerelease', Tron is showing at a theater near me for a week at the beginning of next year (They claim it's a new 35mm print...)
I would like to see the new Disney redubbed My Neighbor Totoro released at least to art theaters before the ever pushed back DVD release (which wouldn't surprise me if this indeed, did happen.)
Any of the Walt-era classics should get at least limited art house releases before their respective DVD releases.
The one I personally would like to see in the theater is the Adventures Of Ichibod Crane and Mr Toad, which most people have never seeen (as well as extremely entertaining
Why they didn't release the Extended Cut of Return Of The King this month dumbfounds me as the other two extended cuts drew very well AFTER their dvd releases.
Rereleases are good promotional tools and frankly help respect of the films when people see them in the format for which they were created.. The only problem for art house releases is the prints will tour around and small markets won't get them at all.
