That series had similar titles: Starring Mickey & Minnie - Starring Donald & Daisy - Here's Goofy. The only DVD that has the same title is "Starring Chip 'N Dale". However, the VHS collection only had 3 cartoons per tape, and they are not the same titles as what is on the DVD collection.

Well here they are! The "Walt Disney Classic Cartoon Favorites"! For all you people out there who allreday have the "Walt Disney Treasures" then the first three Starring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are not for you, but Chip and Dale are as they are on DVD for the first time! Many of the shorts (e.g. "Out Of Scale") had really wonderful music in them but much to my regret unlike the original cartoon classic series they did not have the catch ditty that played before the cartoons. They did, however, have 9 cartoons instead of 3 and another advantage is that they have that DVD fast play where you just watch the previews and the main pogram plays right away. Horray for technology! hopefully in future waves there will be a collection for "Humphery the Bear" and another collection for donald including the full uncut version of his 1954 short "Spare the Rod" among others.

Wow, can't wait to get Chip 'n Dale. I too have the treasures for the Big 3, but I never new Goofy was missing those three cartoons. (Note to self: guess I should actually watch them once in a while.)

Anyway, any rumors as to what ones will be released in the future?

Soccermania also has the first appearances of several characters from DuckTales, about 2 years before the TV series. Soccermania has been released on DVD in other countries. It's not included on "The Complete Goofy" because it's not a theatrical Goofy short. It's a made for TV special from 1987. Same reason the Freewayphobia shorts were not included, those are considered educational shorts. They haven't shown Freewayphobia in years, possibly because they are politically incorrect (Goofy the drunk driver smashing into things, etc.). They have been released on VHS, part of the "Wonderful World of Disney" set from the 80's.

maybe this means we'll be seeing the holiday themed releases before long.

it would also be nice to get some of the wonderful world of disney compilations like the ranger of brownstone out on dvd. i hope disney continues with this line, even if i dont plan on picking up any of the current releases im excited to see what might come in future...

I just pre-ordered the Donald DVD and the Chip N Dale DVD through Amazon.com.

I have the Mickey and Goofy cartoons from the Disney Treasures sets, so I won't be ordering those DVDs.

Although the Donald and Chip N Dale cartoons will probably "eventually" show up on Treasures sets, I would like the cartoons when they are released in January. Even if the next Treasures in December 2005 end up containing all these cartoons, I'll own them and enjoy them on DVD for almost a year before the Treasures.

Plus there is no guarantee of future Disney Treasures DVD sets. I want the Treasures sets to continue to come out for years to come, but I do realize that Disney has a habit of changing their minds about future releases on video and DVD.

Well, I changed my Amazon order - deleting the Donald Duck DVD after I checked and found there were only 2 cartoons I didn't already have on DVD.

But...is it written in stone of whether or not they will have a Chip n' Dale Treasure? If so, I think I may be able to wait for it. Otherwise I won't be getting the others...unless the cover art pleases me, lol. j/k

No. The Donald one (the only one I have) has a different line-up of films. This is a good thing, given the editing and the ghastly interstitials on the "Everybody Loves..." series.

This does indeed sound like a cool release for the non-Treasure buying public (though I hope it doesn't undercut Treasure's performance). Hopefully it stimulates an interest in "the gang" even further. I don't foresee myself buying any of these, as all the shorts will likely end up on a Treasures set. Maybe if they put the Chipmunks DVD OOP before we get confirmation of their appearance in the Treasures line, but anything short of that probably won't result in my purchasing it.

Inside of separate? Why do you want them to release a box set that you won't buy? And there is no "could be" double dipping, it IS double dipping 100% with the Mickey and Goofy DVDs. What is Disney thinking?

Well in this case, it's only double dipping if you buy it, and I don't see much reason for anyone who owns the Treasures to buy them. I think this is just giving the opportunity to own some of the classic shorts to those who'd rather not invest in the higher-priced Treasures line.

If you guys really think about it, this DVD set truly is "Treasures-Lite" (as I said in my first post in the thread), because it's really not for the collector, but for the casual DVD buy, who may not be so obsessive for Treasures like you guys here are, but want a chance to own a few Disney cartoons.

Plus, it's kid-friendly, so I'm sure not many peeps would be mad if their kid took the disc out to play (as opposed to the way some of you complained that the brats were getting their mangy paws on your beloved DVDs). It's an "expendable" DVD. If it gets scratched, no biggie, so long as it's still playable.

Plus, the low SRP ($14.99 is really cheap coming from Disney) would help reach a wider range of customers, as opposed to the ridiculously-high-for-two-discs $32.99 SRP for the Treasures (which is why I buy mine at Sam's Club for $20)

For all I know, Disney may not write anything in stone these days. But my guess is that there won't be a C&D "Treasure" as most of C&D's appearances should be covered in the DD sets. But who knows.

BTW, I don't just guess, it's also a hope of mine that they won't mess up the Treasures line with sets based on more characters than the essentials.

I was excited to see the Chip and Dale disc, but it is sort of a shame that they did not include the short "The Lone Chipmunks" on it. There are only three Chip and Dale shorts that were not featuring Mickey, Donald, or Pluto (mostly Donald) (to my knowledge - I may be wrong), and it seems like they could have included all three rather than just the two "Two Chips and a Miss" and "Chicken in the Rough." I don't think there will ever be a "Pete Treasure" to catch it.

FYI, "The Lone Chipmunks" is on the <b>Davy Crockett: Two Movie Set</b> (<a href="http://www.ultimatedisney.com/davycrock ... >Review</a>). Not that one short would be worth a $15 DVD purchase, but two Davy Crockett movies and that short, and what more could you want? (Oh yeah music!!!)

Does anyone else agree with me that this is one of the worst "Mickey" collections we've ever seen?
In MICKEY'S CIRCUS, Mickey appears on stage to introduce Donald and is then absent entirely for about four minutes.
In both HAWAIIAN HOLIDAY and ORPHANS' PICNIC Mickey is only present on-screen for about a minute. MOVING DAY starts out a little better, but once the actual moving hijinks have begun, Mickey appears in just a single thirty-second gag.
I'm not denying that these cartoons are great, but as choices for a disc focusing on Mickey, they couldn't be poorer. It's the kind of thing that leaves me with conspiracy theories about WD Home Video.
As long as we're double-dipping, wouldn't MICKEY'S RIVAL or THRU THE MIRROR or MICKEY'S FIRE BRIGADE be better choices? Or any number of colorized later black-and-white cartoons, which I wouldn't object to on a disc aimed at kids.

Well the cover art for these DVDs is the same as the cover art for the already available in R2 ''Everybody Loves...'' series.

Although I think there is a difference in contents.

If they are the same, it does mean the shorts don't include the credits.
