Oh man, I've been looking forward to this movie since I first heard about it a couple of years ago. I grew up reading the book and loving the first movie, but I think this new version is going to be great - much more true to the creepy feel of the book. (I also highly recommend the sequel- Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Good stuff!!) The only sad thing about this new movie is that it won't be including one of the best movie songs ever - "Pure Imagination". But that's okay, I don't think this movie should be seen as replacing the first one, just as a great reinterpretation of the book for us to enjoy.

The trailer is reportedly going to be before The Polar Express in select cities.

I love the kids look and outfits, they are exactly like described in the book! :D

Thanks for the pics. The kids look great, just as I imagined. :) However, the Oompa-Loompa looks old and ugly and too "hi-tech" (or something like that). They should be cute little men, like in Quentin Blake's illustrations. I wasn't too happy with the Loompas of the '71 version already.

I was thinking that Oompa Loompa is in his TV room outfit. It is a little too hi-tech since they are described as hippy-ish.

The Oompa Lumpas look like they're gonna try and land a plane on an airport strip. But I guess that could work for the TV Room.

So long as we get squirrels in this movie instead of those insipid geese...

It seems weird seeing a oompa loompa like that! I can't imagine them any other way than from the original!

The kids look fine, although no better than the kids in the 1971 movie. You definitely can't beat Augustus Gloop in that one! However, the Oompa Loompa is atrocious. He looks like a crabby old man.

I do want to see this movie, as I am a big fan of the book, but I really think that the older version has nothing to improve on. I am quite content with it, and have always thought it was very true to the book. But, whatever.

The kids look excellent. I can't wait to see Mike Teevee (I already know what Charlie looks like, even if there's no pics of him in character, yet). I'm not too wild about the Oompa Loompa look, either, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and say it's for the scene in the TV room. I don't think we'll see the teaser before The Polar Express because that film came out today, and usually trailers debut online the day before or the day of their theatrical debut.

Wow, I've seen the poster but not a big one like that. Awesome! I'm dying to see this film! The kids all look great, although Veruca doesn't look quite as I thought she would.

I wonder if they'll be able to succesfully communicate to the public that (a)there is a book and (b)this is an adaptation of the book, not a remake of the film. I can see lots of people leaving asking "where was the Oompa Loompa song?"

:D technically there are Oompa songs/poems in the book, although they are longer and a bit different. When asked if he will sing again Danny Elfman says in the Forbidden Zone DVD interviews “Yeah, actually. I’m singing all of the Ooompa Loompa songs in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I’ll be doing the voices of the Oompa Loompas.”
The voice of Jack Skellington returns :D :D

Wow! I knew there were songs/poems in the books but I didn't fully expected (hoped, but didn't expect) them to appear in the movie. That's awesome!!

As I recall from some research, the book describes the Oompa Loompas as little old hippies. But, the original version of the book had the Oompa Loompas as black pygmies from Africa. They changed them to hippies years later to avoid offending anyone.

So many peolpe complaining about Depp looking creepy. Have you guys red the book? Wonka was a total nut job, so Depp fits the part. :)

I don't know if I will see this or not. It is going to have to be a truly great movie for me not to be disappointed since I love the original movie.

No that was made up as they couldn't do the squirrel room in the 70's.
In the book there are 100's of trained squirrels who tap walnuts to see if they are good then perfectly crack it to put the nut into walnut whips. Veruca demands one of them.
So glad they've done it.

I heard the Oompa Loompas are only a few inches high in the new movie. I haven't read the book since I was probably in grade four so I forget how tall they were in the book... besides being kinda small.

From what I've seen this looks like it'll be interesting. :)
