I wouldn't mind if there were some Touchstone/Miramax DVD reviews. But the most important of all is whether Luke has the time and energy to work on it.

go for it luke! but you know disney also owns hollywood pictures?

I DONT think you should do miramax because their contract expires next year! they may not be disney anymore.

i think most touchstone movies would have made great disney films if they were cleaned up.

Yes. The more UD reviews, the better!

The more reviews the more members will be on the forum. :D

I like the Idea but..........I don't think they would fit in the main page. Today we have Miramax's Malena Special Edition review up! just doesnt fit in and R rated movie in a Disney page?

I love to read your Disney reviews and would love to read your reviews for other non-disney movies.

By the way , oh my brothers and sisters, seeing the popularity of this subject, there's also a topic in the Feedback section where you can leave (what else) feedback and opinions about the UD Reviews themselves, in case you haven't seen it yet (in hindsight maybe i should have posted it in the general section where it might have been more visible, but since it was about feedback, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.)

The preceding has been a public dethi announcement

That's really funny, MMB. Never thought of that. But I agree, it's a bit weird for a review of Malena to be right next to a review of a Mickey Mouse DVD...

Sure. I wouldnt mind seeing some other family movies released under BVHE's other companies. But, obviously, we wouldn't be seeing anything like Kill Bill here. I think the site's main priority should be Disney fims, but if Luke or any others have the time and energy to review other of Disney's Co. family films, go right ahead!

While I wouldn't mind seeing more reviews-I think the movies should stay in the Children's/Family category. A review of Ella Enchanted (great movie, by the way  )would be great, a review of Kill Bill is out of place. I also think it would be a wonderful idea to review some of the other animated DVDs out there (the Looney Tunes, Hanna Barbera and especially the Dreamworks stuff), as I suspect that many of the members here are fans of not only Disney animation, but animation in general. :D

I think that it's an interesting issue. On the one hand, I'd like to have as many UD reviews as possible. But on the other hand, as "I am the Doctor" said, I think that something like Kill Bill might be out of place. Would you get to request certain titles from Buena Vista/etc. or would they just send you whatever they'd like to, in order to get out more publicity? I always thought that it was the latter with Disney's titles, but I could be wrong.

If it were the former then I'd suggest only requesting titles that you think the readers would be interested in, but then the question of where to draw the line comes up. Is Kill Bill okay? Is The Village okay? You could possibly have a policy of only reviewing films that are rated PG-13 or under (as some Disney films themselves are PG-13) but that ends up excluding alot of big releases such as the King Arthur - Unrated edition.

I do think that either way, even if you decide to just review more "family-oriented" films, then they should still be seperate from the list of Disney titles. As I said before, I'd like as many UD reviews as possible, but what you decide to review really depends on how you view the site itself, is it "family-friendly" or not?

I've asked Luke if I could be a reviewer. If he says 'yes', I promise reviews for Sixth Sense, Signs, Bringing Down the House, Big Trouble, Bionicle the Movie: Mask of Light and Bionicle 2: Legends of Metru Nui. I promise to bring reviews worthy of the reviews online now.

VOTE JUST MYSELF IN 2004! j/k

I think reviews of touchstone films would be great Luke and Id vote for it, however for what its worth, Id be less enthusistic about miramax, simply because touchstone grew out of disney and was always an extension of disney. Miramax being more of an aquistion, always feels to me that its something disney has control over only finacially as opposed to creatively, Miramax I always associate with Harvey wienstein. Apart from maybe Ella Enchanted, miramax films even there adult ones seldom feel like there even remotely connected to the disney co. I suppose the same could be said for some touchstone films. However, films like Hidalgo, Count of Monte Cristo, even 'the village' seem like borderline disney 'mature' films anyway. Whatever you decide to do I look forward to it. This site just gets better and better!!

I say definately YES to Touchstone but NO to Miramax.
Miramax movies are not Disney  , that company make their films individual from the Disney companys directors.
Look for the problems with Farenheit earlier this year for an example.
The company is bought up by Disney but was existing long before that.
But Touchstone is another matter. It´s started by DIsney and is counted as Disney by the DIsney archives in Burbank.
So yes, please, review some of the Touchstone pictures (and maybe some of the old Hollywood Pictures as well).
:)

I have always wanted this to be a part of the site -- it was my first request when I joined UD.

I agree that it should be the more "family" films. Touchstone would be great, Miramax/Dimensions would be okay with movies like Ella and Spy Kids.

Wow, Captain Hook. Now there's a name I've not seen in over 5 months! Well this particular Captain Hook. Where you been, friend? Welcome back! Congrats on being #7 in the countdown! :)
