I'd most like to see "Fantasia" uncut because that film is a real classic but I really hope that when "Make Mine Music" is released on DVD in the UK that The Martins and the Coys is included.

Its so strange that all these things are being edited because look at todays animated shows. Their still just as stereotypical about races and ethnic groups. If you look at Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy etc you'll see them doing stereotypes of gays, blacks, IRAQI's will these things be edited out in years to come?

i dont get offended with stereotypes in movies or tv serious i think is funny and it should be taken as jokes, the only people that have problems with stereotypes are the ones of that race been stereotyped that get offended cause they dont have self steem to be happy with their heritage.

Well, South Park is a totally different matter. Personally I agree with Trey Parker and Matt Stone - South Park isn't racist, sexist or any other type of 'ist' because the treat everybody equally. In other words - any minority or even majority is likely to be targeted for their satire. Plus from what I have seen of the two, they're accept any such humour form others targeted at them or their creations.

It's not often you see people willing to take as much as they dish out.

But I think you're wrong MMB - a lot of entertainment in the 1920's, 30's and 40's is offensive, especially to blacks. I can accept that. And even now I get uncomfortable when "jokes" about slavery from those films or cartoons are viewed today. It's not about self-esteem - some examples are downright nasty.

I do think the Centaur in Fantasia could easily cause offense. But as I said, I don't want it banned or edited. Disney should just take responsibility for their past judgements.

But of the Disney cartoons released to date that I've seen from this time period (and of course the later Song of the South) I see nothing that warrants a ban or censorship. I approve 100% of Disney releasing such materials with introductions explaining the context of the times.

I think some other studio's output needs to do treated with utmost caution should it ever get a general release. But all of the Disney edits to date (with the possible exception of the Walt initiated "Three Little Pigs" edit) are silly and pointless.

And sadly, Disney's mishandling of "Song of the South" means that it's become a legend - and as such I can't see it being released in America without Disney going to town with documentaries, even though there is nothing in it to cause anything but the slightest offence.

Although I did vote - for the Martins and Coys. It was a complete segment that has been taken out of a film, not just a slight alteration.
To me, it and Song of the South, represent how something can be completely suppressed.

I wish Disney wouldnt have to cut out all these scenes because it makes the films look much worse than how they appeared when they came out the first time in theaters. Besides I remember some of these scenes such as Aladdin's song, Knick Knack( from the Tiny Toy Stories video), and The Martin and the Coys.
