I think it is -- maybe that's because I like the Aladdin sequels a lot, but in any case, Disney will consider it a major release and be promoting it as they would any other DTV. It does seem a little bit like they're shoving it out there as a 2-pack to get it done with, as they could have done that easily with BATB's sequels and didn't (Lion King was a special case because one of them was new.) But a 2-pack does seem logical; by pairing them, they're essentially creating a 2-disc set, and those always sell better than singles because people assume there's more on them (though I doubt that's true with the Aladdin sequels contentwise, nessesarily.)
The only problem I have with believing Dumbo will be there is that we've not heard any rumbelings about it like we did with Alice, Pocahontas, Lilo & Stitch and Mary Poppiins. Then again, they did pull a fast one on us with Mulan, as well, so, they very well might. I hope they carry over the stuff from the 60th Anniversary Edition since I don't have it yet -- especially the Michael Crawford Baby Mine music video, as I'm a huge phan of his (;) and don't have it yet.
L&S2 -- I dunno. If a theatrical release for the summer was planned, it would have to be around May, so as to not give Disney's own Chicken Little any sizeable competition. (A new L&S theatrical release would, definately, be competition.) It is still DisneyToon Studios and not Feature Animation, but some of the crew have been involved in it, and Chris Sanders obviously as both a story person and the voice of Stitch, so that gives it a little something extra that the cheapquels don't usually have. Not to mention they have been improving vastly (look at Lion King 1.5 and Three Musketeers.)
Pocahontas will definately be out in the first half of next year, though, yeah.

ohh boy!! That extra pocahontas stuff sounds great! My mouth is watering just thinking about it
I so hope they give Pocahontas a box set- i know its a high expectation, but the artwork from that film is some of the studios most beautiful:)

Pocahontas: February, March, or April
Lilo and Stitch: May, June, or July
Dumbo (it's the only potential SE release that makes sense next to Cinderella): September or October
I think the Lilo sequel can go either way in terms of theatrical or DTV. On one hand, Disney would definitely be promoting it more now if it were theatrical. On the other, the filmmakers from the original are working on this, and I don't think there's yet been a case of a theatrical Disney director/producer doing DTV. Either way, a summer release seems like a given. As for Pocahontas, January is definitely no longer an option. Press releases from Disney are usually issued 3 months in advance (more in the case of the Platinums). February is also seeming slightly implausible because usually before a press release is issued, inside sources will sort of foreshadow one coming (like a retailer giving out a release date, etc.). We have yet to hear any sort of rumors for Pocahontas in Region 1 to pave the way for a press release, so February's looking slim. I think March or April seem to be the most likely.
In the case of Dumbo, my reasoning is simply that any other potential SE (Hunchback, Hercules, etc.)
just doesn't really go hand in hand with Cinderella except Dumbo. Sleeping Beauty and Lion King were both grand epics from separate eras of Disney. Aladdin and Mulan are dramedys that lean slightly more to the comedy side.
Nothing matches Cinderella except for saying that Dumbo's a Walt-era classic just like Cindy.
Yes, I realize I ramble too much. Congrats if you read this far.

I'm afraid you logic is greatly flawed there, my friend. First of all, I think your stretching with your connection between Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King.
Secondly, and most importantly, how could you say there is no connection between Cinderella and Hunchback. Thematically, they are also identical!!!!

They both have good natured, kind hearted hero/heroines that are greatly mistreated by their abusive, manipulative and all to human, evil gaurdians. Hunchback is sort of like the boy cinderella. Except that hediesn't get the girl in the end and live happily ever after in a castle. The only connection that Cinderella and Dumbo have is that they are both Walt-era films...
I personally think Cinderella and The Hunchback of Notre Dame have more of a common than Sleeping Beauty and The Lion King, or Aladdin and Mulan, but that's just my opinion...
I could also see Lilo and Stitch being the SE paired up with the PE release of Bambi, I just hope it doesn't result in Pocahontas being pushed back even further...
I think more than likely we will being seeing a preview for the next ME/SE/AE on the Mary Poppins DVD, or if we're lucky Mulan, but I would say definately Mary Poppins.

The Sleeping Beauty/The Lion King connection is Disney's, not mine. During the airing of Sleeping Beauty on The Wonderful World of Disney, they were constantly connecting the airing to the DVD release of The Lion King and stating how each is a grand artistic epic from their respective time periods.
Don't get me wrong about Hunchback. I want it on DVD ASAP, but you must think from a promotional standpoint. Do you really think Disney will use your connections in their ad campaigns for trying to tie Cinderella and Hunchback together? It's far easier for me to see them saying, "Own these two classic Walt Disney films today!" in the case of Dumbo. Besides, Dumbo came out on DVD before Hunchback, so it seems more likely that the former would be re-released before the latter. I also think Disney will pull a Pocahontas in the case of Hunchback by trying to make it an anniversary edition, meaning a 2006 release seems very likely. Personally, I don't care too much for a Dumbo 2-disc whereas I want a Hunchback one now, but you have to think of how Disney will approach this and I think they'll approach it the way I just said.

i'm beginning to wonder if the delay in pocahontas is because Disney saw the response and how the public wanted that song put back in and the delay is because they are finishing animating it. that would be cool and i'll patiently wait for it if that is the case. i'm really hoping a branching version with that song is put back in.......

It will be put back into the film for the DVD. The BBFC have classified a newer version of the film which is 3 minutes longer.

Wait, I'm still confused. So is it definite that Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch will be released in 2005?
Also, is Pocahontas SE on DVD overseas or just Lilo and Stitch?
Another thing, I was thinking they might release Lilo and Stitch SE DVD to coincide with the opening of Stitch's Great Escape in WDW or before it's opening. It seems that Disney likes to put the movie the ride is based on (or the movie that is based on the ride) on the shelves in the store you "just so happen to enter" when you exit the ride.

Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch are for sure coming in 2005. The question is when. Lilo's SE is already available overseas while Pocahontas' SE arrives overseas later this year. I'm positive the Lilo SE won't arrive to coincide with the Stitch ride (which opens later this month, I believe). If it were, Disney would've announced it back in the summer or even earlier. I do agree, though, that once the SE is released, there'll be tons of it in the gift shop you enter while exiting the ride.

Wow, classy cover art! Of course, I don't expect anything like that at all for the R1 cover, but I'm hoping ours is nice, none the less.

Wow, very nice cover art. One of Disneys best I think. Would be so cool if the R1 have the same artwork. Let's all hope for that.

Also thanks for sharing the coverart Anaël. Seems like a lot of the Covers from France have an elagent look to them.

Wow! That cover art sure is a beauty!

Lately, Pocahontas has slowly been moving up the ranks on my animated classics list of favorites. It's always been one of my top 5's, but I would now put it above The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. It currently rests at number 3, behind Aladdin and The Little Mermaid Respectively. (Oddly enough, The Lion King has been falling since its release last year. It's not because of the poor DVD release. I guess it's just not as timeless to me anymore.)
Anyway, I am so psyched for this DVD! This is one of the few pieces of animation that can be classified as high art. The whole thing is a moving painting and the The Colors of the Wind sequence is probably the best in all of animation history.

since Pocahontas is my favorite of the movies released in the 1990s (all due to that loveable raccoon Meeko

) I'll definitely be buying this dvd. I only own the video and I don't want to buy a cheap release dvd that has NO special features.
And I'm glad I waited on Lilo and Stitch as well - since that's getting an SE treatment as well.
