I semi-agree. Most of the DTV releases haven't done, (not that I kno for a fact, but it seems) as well as the original movies or the movies that go thru the theaters have done. And yea a lot of that is BECAUSE of the theater costs. But how many of you own more DTV releases than not? And yea, nevermind. I think the moose were funny, but too much of a funny thing could go seriously wrong. And I think, if I kno anything, which I'm not sure I do, Disney will probably come up with a Rutt and Tuke TV series, much like the Lilo & Stitch series, but I have no idea. I can just see them doing that. And I don't mean to be a downer, but for instance I think the TV series and the sequel, it didn't RUIN Tarzan, but it took alot away from it, if you kno what I mean?

But what if there is an interesting story after the first film ended? I, for one, was left not entirely satisfied with the ending- it seemed almost too resolute- unfair, almost. I think a sequel could really expand on it, maybe ballance things a bit. But this isn't fan fiction here, the people actually writing the sequal hopefully have an interesting story in there as well.
And I know we've rehashed this a trillion times, but sequels can't really "ruin" an original. It doesn't alter the original in any way- and it shouldn't change your perception, either. Bad sequels can taint a lot of things- the legacy of the franchise, the people/company behind the franchise, and possibly even the uniquity of the original if too many are done- but if you liked the movie before, that shouldn't change because you see a sequel.

For me, personally, the sequels don't entirely ruin the originals, but I when I think of Ariel and Eric living happily-ever-after, I want the vision of the two of them sailing away under a rainbow into wedded bliss. I don't want that vision to be them having to deal with more trouble and a annoying 12 year-old.
The same with Cinderella: I don't want her happily-ever-after to include a rotten time fitting in at the castle.

Disney should invest money on making ALL NEW feature films and no insulse and stupids sequels.
I totlay understand what you are saying in how Disney just invest moeny in making new movies lsuch as the one that is coming out in August Mickey Mouse tthree mosketeers. Howevre i agrewee with most not all the sequals are bad some are pointless, but this one if done right I think has major potential but as I said you make a really good point.

Disney Toon Studios is a seperate studio. Disney can create a feature and a direct to video movie at the same time if they want... And believe me... they have ENOUGH money to spend

And don't forget, sequels bring in more money than they cost, so that's good for the company

Ya know, I can't imagine making a sequel to a movie that wasn't that popular in the first place. Whatever.
Moving on, do you notice that as time goes by, Pocahontas gets more and more popular? Do you notice that it's become more and more beloved and thought of as a classic?
That's because of the junk that's come along since then.

Ok, I think that that kind of sequels are technically well-animated products, the have even good quality, but the stories are fluffy and have a lack of interest in their plots. No memorable characters, no brilliant moments (except the song sequence in which Belle makes a book for Beast in BATB II), no charm. Maybe I'm expecting too much from a movie, but I don't like these sequels.
I don't think they ruin the original films, are just films apart who takes the same characters involved now in such new "interesting" plots. I know they are so profitable, and Disney is after all a big business, that means "we HAVE to get as much money as we can".
You see, I prefer new animation pieces like shorts lije Destino and Lorenzo, more artistic and no so commercial as sequels are.
By the way, I enjoyed Aladdin and the Prince of Thieves a lot.
Excuse my English, please.

A sequel?
I--I--haven't even seen the first one yet!
Other than that, I don't encourage a sequel to BB, but I don't mind it. I'd much rather see Disney use their time to make more movies like they used to, however...

yeah i think that there will be a Brother Bear 1&1/2 since many people liked Rutt and Tuke. the midquel would probably tell what Rutt and Tuke were doing during the scenes when they were not there.

I can't believe there's people here saying that Brother Bear can't support a sequel. You claim Disney has no imagination because they just make sequels, but display as much imagination as a soggy lettuce leaf yourselves.
There's lots of potential for Brother Bear sequels. What happens when Koda grows up? How will Kenai feel then? What if Kenai misses his family? What if his family and friends miss him? What if Kenai would like to start a family of his own (with a human, one would hope)? What happens when another tribe finds the Bear clan? What happens if there is a harsh winter (it is set around the time of the Ice Age)? What happens if Koda finds members of his real, blood family? What happens if Kenai is injured and Koda has to look after him?... And I've only just started.
All you need to do is ask questions and there's lots of questions to ask.

well please do stop. there are Disney spies on this website and they will steal your ideas so it can be made into a movie.

Well, being as they're recording the voice overs this week (or was it next week?) it's a bit late for that.
And why not? Like I say, there's so much they could do with the characters and situations. It's not like their relationship stopped as soon as Kenai chose to be a bear. Surely that decision alone raises lots of unanswered questions?

Well I like your thinking those are all good ideas for a sequal as long as they steer from the average sequal we see you know pearents having troubles with thier child. As for the 1 1/2 sequal I I could see it happen but then again I dont want to becasue then whagt made the lion King trilogy special wont be know what I mean.

actually a great blopper would be Michael Eisner getting lost in the woods and Koda and Kenai attck Eisner. think of "When Bears Attack".
