So nice you said it twice! :D

And I say: why not? These are no less deserving as they are just as important a part of Disney history as anything else.

They may not be the official self-proclaimed Masterpieces, but they have been great little earners for Disney when the box office receipts dropped.

Sure, they aren't as good as the original, nothing ever will be in the minds of most, but they don't seek to replace them and they were still the result of hard work (by Sydneysiders in many cases :)) on a much smaller budget than the originals. These are the same people who put out a lot of Disney TV content too!

If for no other reason, these films should be given special edition releases so that the hard work of those people who are written off by many on this forum as a joke can be acknowledged.

Bring it on I say!

Don't worry Loomis - I don't blame Australia for the abysmal Hunchback of Notre Dame II animation - that was done my Disney Tokyo (and apparently they had trouble timing and animating to western dialogue).

You know, I wonder if Hunchback II would have been a totally different (and better) film if done in Anime styling...

I don't especially want a 2 disc set for either Cinderella or Hunchback II, but I was disappointed Return to Neverland didn't get one (or even a single disc "2 disc set" like Treasure Planet, with designs and animation tests etc). I think it's worth Disney documenting the production of any of their modern movies, being as footage can be shot with the DVD in mind these days.

And hey, a work-in-progress of any animated film would be worth watching. (Except for Jungle Book II where it would just show the original Jungle Book scenes the animators traced for the sequel.)

OOhhhh. Controversial. Slap my wrist.

Oh, I wasn't defending Australia so much as the TV division. I enjoy their stuff, and they have to do just as much work in half the time on a smaller budget. And through a friend of a friend, I know they get paid bugger all.

I just hate hearing sequel bashing for the sake of sequel bashing is all. People forget that actual animators working for almost nothing are actually doing this stuff, and they are not just picked out of Eisner's navel. They deserve recognition as much as anyone else. Ok, maybe not a 2 disc special edition, but at least give them your respect peoples!

When I say Ican't stand sequels, don't get me wrong: they are still an important part of Disney film history and the original movie's legacy, and I still respect all those who put it together. Those drawings of Quasi and Madellaine, although they may "suck" sometimes to us, it is a lot better than any of us could do, I'm sure.

Amen to that!
I NEVER want to hear another person say a sequel sucks or its animation is crap unless they can send me PROOF that they can draw/animate better.

That'll learn 'em... :P

Sequels sucks! don't care who makes them cause they arent not animation anything new. all their works is already done since they only have to pull the original animation out of the archives. so i dont give me any recognition. their plots are cheesy, songs are way stupid, animation as cheap as a 10 year old's drawing (Hunchback 2). this sequels need to be burnt or locked/burried inside the vault for eternity!

Tell us how you really feel!

I have to disagree though about the songs... I don't kow about all the other sequels, but I really like some of the songs in "King of Theives" I especially like the song "You don't come out of thin air" Though I hate the way they ripped off the Alibaba and the 40 Theives story for an already arabian sequel... Just like they are doing with working The Illiad as Hercules' sequel, when he had nothing to do with the trojan war.

:( Oh well...

I know this was probably meant to be a joke, but I held off on buying the June release of JB2, because I am hoping there will be a 2 disc SE release, with the Platinum edition, whenever that comes out. :P
