I totally agree with awallaceunc. Eisner has been credited for doing a lot of good for Disney in the late 80's. That's win all the hits came (Aladdin, Little Mermaid etc.) Even Roy (jr.) Disney has stated that but now it is time for Eisner to go. Can't wait for that day to come!

Eisner was the one that knocked it the hardest.

Between all of Disney I (Walt), Disney II (Roy), Disney III (Ron), Disney IV (Eisner/Wells), and Disney V (Eisner),

Disney V is the one that is 100% different from Disney I.

Disney II-III was basically the same entity as Disney I. Disney IV could pass for Disney I but it was deteriorating. That's why we had Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and the Lion King slip through. Disney V is a different entity all together.

Class- I agree with your points on Disneys I-III (though the 2nd two were undisputably weaker, but with the same intentions). I also agree with you whole-heartedly on Disney V.

We don't see eye to eye on Disney IV, though. I'm not sure what you mean by "slip through"? And Disney was certainly not deteriorating- quite the opposite! Its 4 most successful films came out, completely rejuvenating the company and the industry. These films were hailed as a great renaissance and credited with restoring Disney to the calibur that it had not enjoyed since Walt's lifetime.

Well yea but Eisner did not have the same control of Disney IV that he has today. And I meant that the magic of Walt was still here, but it was slowly disappearing. BEFORE disappearing it made these films.

I guess another way to look at it is as follows:

Disney I: Walt era.

Disney II: Post Walt era but pre Eisner’s grip. This is basically the same as I.

Disney III: Eisner’s grip. This looks nothing like I.

and of couse, Disney II and III almost ran the company into the ground...

Right, that's what I was coming in to say as well. Disney II & III were the same, you could argue, in spirit. They put out some fairly good and luke-warmly received features. The problem is that from the time that Walt died to the time that Eisner took over-- a decade and a half-- only 5 animated classics were released (and one of them was a compilation feature). Astounding! They did better w/ live action (a pretty sizable number of them were released), but the success of Disney II & III might have even been worse than Disney V is right now, though I don't know that for sure.

The new DIsney Movies are Trash. Like the new Around The World in 80 Days looks like a pile of GARBAGE! And the New Shaggy Dog could be cancelled for all I care and the world would be a better place.

Well, that's a rather harsh statement. I thought Around the World in 80 Days looked like a funny movie, I'll give it a chance before deciding whether or not its good or bad.

As far as recent Disney movies... the Freaky Friday was really good update/remake, Pirates of the Carribean has quickly jumped to the all time favorites list... Haunted Mansion was a funny family film. Brother Bear was a great animated classic as well as Home on the Range. I'm sure there were some clunkers released but there was really good stuff too.
