Ok, thanks. I retract what I said then. I was under the impression that all the content could have fit on one disc w/ TLK 1.5. I liked the virtual tour a lot and am glad to have it, especially w/ no extra cost!

Are you SURE it's the last 2-D animated feature ever? It's just the last one they had in production, concurrently. It's a shame that Disney feels it can no longer compete in the industry it created! Well, maybe if they hadn't released 2-3 animated features per year to the point where everyone got sick of them...

Hey thats a really good point one that I have always wondered does anyone really know what began that trend of realsing more than one classic animated feature a year? It stared after Tarzan thats all I know casue Owlzindabarn is right I didn't realy like the trend at all. The movies didnt seem as excting but hey that could just be me.

Well, it's officially planned to be the last traditionally animated feature, but no one can really know that for sure. Nothing's written in stone, and I'm sure that they will return somewhere down the road, under an Eisnerless administration.

Yeah, the overkill of movies is a bad strategy. It might sound good in theory, but it clearly hasn't worked.

I really didn't like the Home on the Range disc art.
Buck does look ok but it's silly, right.

I came in this thread to say the exact same thing! I also like the flat, geometric artwork for the menus. They remind me of some of the non-Mickey&Friends shorts from the 50's (like "Paul Bunyan") and the openings inside the birdschoolhouse from the Sing-Along-Songs VHS series.

About it being a non-2disc set...It's sad that the sequels get a better set than the last traditionally animated Disney Feature, but on the bright side, with a one disc set of HOTR, you don't have to get up and change the disc to see the extras!

lol okay that's true.... but '2-disc special edition' would have looked nicer.

Don't hate me Netty , but here are the bonus features of "Home on the Range" from BBFC. They are more disappointing than I thought, I must say. The making of featurette is only 16 minutes long?!! I know the movie is not perfect, but it sure deserves much more than this.

I dont like the cover art. I was hoping for a two disc set. BUT, I'll buy it anyway and no matter what !!!

The term special edition, like Jerry Seinfeld might say, has become a bit like "Extra Strength" medicine. You can't get strength any more, the lowest is extra strength.

Now Special Edition seems to be a way of saying "We graced it with a DVD"; followed by Collector's Edition and if you are really lucky to be on the Paramount label .....Special Collector's Edition!

Whoopsie, I originally said that there was an 'all new short' on the DVD, but then I read above and saw it had already been discussed. Forgot to edit ALL of my post

In true Disney fashion, they are giving the first DVD release a poor treatment so that in a few years, they can add a bunch of stuff to it and make you want to buy it again. From a business stand point, it's genius. But it really is wrong. I will be buying this release because I loved this movie and want to complete the collection, and then I will buy it again when they add more to it because I have a problem and can't help myself. You would think that since it wasn't successfull at the box office, that Disney would want to put more on the DVD to make people feel better about a blind buy.
