While looking through another thread about the most anticipated releases, I began to think that Lilo and Stich and the Gold Collection of Pocahontas will most likely be put into the vault to make way for the Masterpiece editions. Anyone else think that this will happen?
Yes, the same thing happen to the Gold Collection of Alice in Wonderland it went OOP(out of print) to make room for the new Masterpiece of Alice in Wonderland.
It will be likely that Pocahontas (Gold Collection) and Lilo and Stitch (Stanard) will go OOP to make room for the new Masterpiece Edition of Pocahontas and Lilo and Stitch.

Lilo and Pocahontas will go out of print, but you won't have Disney promoting that as a return to the Vault, since the new superior versions will just replace them on the market.

What about the upcoming Mulan SE? If it follows suit w/ SB, then won't it go OOP in February 2005?

I would think that Mulan should go Feb 05. But how long will Alice be available I wonder?

Doubt it, for a couple reasons.
1) There doesn't seem to be a set pattern that Disney strictly adhears to. I think that had Sleeping Beauty not been added to the Platinum roster, the SE would probably have stayed on the market a lot longer. But this way they wanted to get it out and then yank it back in quickly so that all the copies would be scarce by the time they get around to reissuing it.
2) Mulan II was slated for September, which I think will be pushed back to allow for the original to come back first. In that case, I'm sure they'll want the original still available when the sequels come out, so as to get more people to buy their rubbish cheapquels. It's the same thing with Lion King, though those cheapquels aren't rubbish. Can't you just picture it now?
"Oh, hey, loook! Mulan is available again! Let's get it, we missed it last time! Hey, look, there are the two sequels on the shelf right next to it! We may as well get them too and have the whole set!"
So I'm not really sure when they'll drop Mulan back into the vault. Besides, it comes back the last week of October whereas Sleeping Beauty was the second week of September, giving Sleeping Beauty a little more time in print, so I don't really think they're comparable in that sense, since either way Disney will be discontinuing The Lion King trilogy and whatever else on January 31st. Also, a more modern movie like Mulan will probably sell more units than Sleeping Beauty would simply because of the age factor, so they might want to keep it out longer. And, really, Mulan was in print on DVD from October 1999 through January 2002, not counting the brief time between the discontinuing of the Limited Issue and the arrivial of the Gold Collection repackaging of that version, sowe won't know how long they want to keep it out this time.
So it's kind of a wildcard, but I could see it sticking around for a while. As far as Alice goes, it's not one of their most popular titles, so it's been in print ever since its first introduction on VHS and I don't think that's likely to change anytime soon, even though they did say the new DVD was a limited time only thing.

Jake, you make some excellent points, and I agree with everything you said, from Mulan to Alice.

Most likely the list will be:
The Lion King
The Lion King 1&1/2
The Lion King 2: SImba's Pride
Mulan Special Edition (think of Sleeping Beauty from last year)
The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2
The Hunchback of Notre Dame
this titles i think will be out of print in 2005

I am wondering, along with the Lion King Triology what other Disney dvds were supposed to be going into the vaults?
