I was always confident this one was coming. Same with Aladdin 2.
Yes @ the recast. Or better yet, just bring back the guy from the first movie, loved him, and re-cast Aurora instead. Never liked Elle Fanning.

… is anybody really asking for this movie?

I can't speak for anyone but I don't. I was never a fan of the Maleficent movies and even if I could sort if see the point of the original, the sequel was just a mess and I have no doubt this will be worse.

I agree. But I'm excited to see Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning return. The first two movies might not have been the greatest, but it was a lot of fun watching their performances.

I've been wanting it.

I just hope it might be a little better than Mistress of Evil. I mean, MoE wasn't terrible, but they could've focused more on Pfeiffer and Jolie. Maleficent meeting the other winged creatures was much worse than I expected when reading spoilers prior to the film. It would've been better if she only met a small group of 2-4 others like her than some big community.
Perhaps the villain this time could be a member of the magical world rather than the humans. Perhaps someone who hates humans and wants to destroy them (including Aurora), and who convinces the others to go along with it after everything from the second film, that Maleficent has to stop. Sort of a full circle moment, too, since Maleficent was that person briefly in the first film when she casts the spell.

I think Disney is not reading the room properly. The live-action remakes are done.

I don't think they're done, they're just very limited now by what properties are left. L&S, Moana, and Frozen are guaranteed hits barring some dumb casting decision like what tanked TLM. Aside from that, the only things left to mine are sequels to previous remakes or smaller hits like Hercules, TP&TF, or Tangled, where they would have to do everything right to eke out a return. Perhaps "twist" films for Ursula or the Evil Queen in the vein of
Maleficent and
Cruella?
I still think they'll just start all over eventually with Cinderella again in 5 or 10 years.

I think with the forthcoming Villains Land at the Magic Kingdom we will see (and actually, I think we are already seeing in the parks and merchandise) an even greater focus on the Villains brand, so Disney relooking at a Maleficent 3 right now makes sense.
They are fun popcorn movies— Angelina Jolie and Maleficent is a great marriage of an A-list star and classic Disney character.

Agreed. I never understood why he was replaced. Brenton Thwaites was perfectly suitable for his part. )And not to mention better looking

.

Agreed.
Maleficent wasn`t necessarily a bad movie by any means, but it was a fanficky, alternative version of
Sleeping Beauty. Unlike
Cinderella, which was done with thought and care for it`s predecessor and setting,
Maleficent felt generic and cheap with it`s designs and setting. It was never done with the same affection for it`s predecessor as
Cinderella was. Angelina Jolie as Maleficent was inspired, but Elle Fanning was a miscast in every sense of the word. As she looked too young for her and lacked beauty or any charisma in her part.

He was replaced due to a scheduling conflict. He was shooting the series Titans at the time Maleficent 2 was going into production.

I dont really get the lukewarm reception from the films, they might not even be close to the perfection of their amimated counterpart, but i really liked that fresh new take, i loved the sequel even more, the costume design was phenomenonal, story had a few tiny flaws but was still really appealing and worthy and the stakes were much higher!
(minus the Actor switch

)
he was so hot Im here for part 3
Also its funny how there were few comparisons how Maleficent 2 and Flopzen 2 had many similarities in their story, there was a great YouTube Video analysing the similarities but for some Video it got taken down??

Q: Could Maleficent 3 and Aladdin 2 move forward?
Skyler Shuler: Maleficent 3 has the better chance, as a draft of the script has been completed. I had heard rumors a few years ago (that I definitely couldn’t confirm) that Disney wanted Guillermo Del Toro to direct but zero talks had happen. Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning are also eager to return. As for Aladdin 2, I believe that ship has sailed.

Money is the only thing Disney cares about, which is why I expect both will happen. Maleficent 3 doesn't have the kind of box office potential Aladdin 2 does, but it would do decent enough, allow them to package the franchise as a trilogy, cross-promote the new 4k restoration of SB, etc. all at the same time.
