Well for the Mickey and the Beanstalk narration, I swear...I swear to you-know-who that when I was a kid in the 70s, there was a tv version that was narrated by Sterling Holloway, not Edgar Bergen and not Ludwig. Does anyone remember seeing that? I may be mistaken, but I do know for sure that the Holloway narration turned up on the Disneyland book and record set of Mickey and the beanstalk...

I 'd rather see the Holloway version than the Ludwig version (the differences in animation clash horribly!)

I'm not certain, because I haven't seen the show in years and no longer have it in my collection - but I believe the show you are thinking of is "Adventures Of Mickey Mouse" (10/12/55), which as been shown on the Disney Channel. I also remember Sterling Holloway narrating that animation and that's the only show I can find. See my posts on TV Animation - The Walt Disney Years for a description of that show (show #8).

I know of 3 different versions. The original one in Fun and Fancy Free, narrated by Edgar Bergen, and 2 other versions that appeared on TV. One replaced all of the live action and narration with Ludwig Von Drake, and the other was narrated by Sterling Holloway.

As a fan of the treasures from the beginning, who has anticipated this set since the concept of the "Disney Treasures" was announced, I want to thank you for an excellent review. I can see libraries, universities, and any other orginization that seeks a greater knowledge about history and our place in relation to that history, picking up this set for its immense historic :!: value. A great debt is owed to Mr. Maltin and his friends at BVHE.
