As somebody who hasn’t been “into” Spider-Man since the Tobey Maguire days, color me interested in what’s looking like the live-action answer to “Into the Spider-verse.” I’m excited to potentially see some of my old favorites back in action.

Collider confirms that Andrew Garfield and Kirsten Dunst have signed on to return and that Tobey Maguire and Emma Stone are in talks. Instead of this mess, they should have just let Sam Raimi make his Spider-Man 4.
Just like Jamie Foxx's Electro, Andrew Garfield will be back, and if Sony/Marvel can close a deal with Tobey Maguire, he'll be back too. Kirsten Dunst will return as MJ, and I expect Emma Stone to reprise her role as Gwen Stacy, pregnancy permitting. Why? Because this third Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland will delve into the multi-verse, just like its animated counterpart Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

I never got into the Tom Holland version of the character (or Garfield's for that matter), and I still wish Raimi's original trilogy and its characters were retrofitted to suit the MCU without having to reboot the franchise yet again. It sounds that's what they're doing now anyway, sort of making all non-MCU movies "legitimate" by introducing the concept of a multiverse. I assume something similar will be done with the X-Men via Deadpool, so in the end all previously non-MCU movies will be brought into the MCU fold, albeit as separate realities/Earths. DCEU has been doing the same for some time now. If that's not comic book-y enough, then nothing is!

The Ninja Turtles have similarly used the multiverse concept. I actually think the multiverse concept is a neat way of telling fans "hey, that part of the franchise you liked hasn't been replaced, it still exists in an alternate universe."

Very true. I forgot to mention it in my previous post, but I believe Turtles Forever was the first time this concept was executed in a comic book movie. That was a fun movie, too.

I really liked the Netflix Daredevil show, and I'm excited to see Charlie Cox come back, even if this movie is already insanely stacked. I only hope that they can find room for Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin as well- he was originally a Spider-Man villain, after all.

Wow. Marvel has really been trying its best to top its ‘Endgame’ by exploring the possibilities of the Multiverse!!! I find this pretty awesome! Tbh so many possibilities are left opened since ‘Endgame”.
It’s interesting to think how “WandaVision”, “Spider-Man 3”, “Doctor Strange In the Multiverse of Madness” and even “Loki” will be connected using the Multiverse..

We finally have a title! From all the titles that had been thrown around I preferred "Home Run", but this is not bad either.

Why do all of the movies have Home in their titles?

I think it's something the director, Jon Watts, likes. I expect after he finishes his trilogy, they'll get a new director and stop using 'home' in their titles.

Alfred Molina confirmed his return and explained that his character will be the same one from Spider-Man 2 and not a different multiverse version.
When the actor asked Jon Watts, the director of “No Way Home,” how the movie would bring Doc Ock back — since, as he pointed out, “I died” — Molina said the director told him, “In this universe, no one really dies.”

In “Spider-Man 2,” Molina played scientist Otto Octavius, who was poised to be a mentor to Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker when a lab accident turns him into the the murderous Doctor Octopus, or Doc Ock for short — so named for the four mechanical arms fused into his back. On the orders Harry Osborn (James Franco), the tentacled, unhinged Doc Ock’s obsession with perfecting his experimental fusion reactor sets him against Peter/Spider-Man and Mary Jane (Kirsten Dunst), and endangers all of New York City. In the movie’s climactic scene, Peter appeals to Otto’s good side, and he drowns himself and his reactor in the East River before the city is destroyed.

In their early conversations, Molina said, Watts told him that the movie will pick up Doc Ock’s story from “that moment” in the river, which in a franchise that include multiverses, time-travel and diverging timelines seems…plausible enough.

Molina’s concerns were more practical. He said that he asked Watts how they were going to deal with the fact that at 67, he’s aged since the 2004 film.

“He just looked at me, and said, ‘Did you see what we did to Bob Downey Jr. and Sam Jackson?'” Molina said with a laugh. In 2016’s “Captain America: Civil War,” Marvel Studios used CGI to de-age Robert Downey Jr. to look as he did in 1991; and in 2019’s “Captain Marvel,” also set in the 1990s, a de-aged Samuel L. Jackson played a younger version of his character, Nick Fury.

But his character will be from a different multiverse for the current Spider-Man and his friends, right? Or am I mistaken? This whole multiverse thing is a bit confusing to me.

If only the gods of filmmaking could hear you. I would die to watch Tobey and Kirsten in a Spider-man 4..

Yes, he will be from a different universe than Tom Holland's Spider-Man. He'll come from Sam Raimi's universe. However, I don't think Electro will be from Marc Webb's universe because Jamie Foxx said he won't be blue in this film.

Sam Raimi's Spider-Man was the best. I wished they gave us Spider-Man 4 instead of everything else. I also always wanted an X-Men 4 with the original cast. And no, Days of Future Past doesn't count.
