I like the castles in Fun and fancy free.

Next time I watch Aladdin, I'll try to remember to notice that stuff!JeanGreyForever wrote:It's not seen in A Whole New World. It's visible right before when Aladdin, Genie, Carpet, and Abu the Elephant are lounging about underneath Jasmine's balcony. It's seen again when Aladdin and Genie have an argument about Genie being freed and Iago steals the lamp. We get to see more of the menagerie which I think is what the garden is really supposed to be considering all the animals found there.
You're welcome and thanks for liking what I said about the other castles.
It's a shock to me that such an evil woman could own something that seems so pure and good like that garden. I'm glad it ends up with Edward and Nancy!
The palace in Atlantis didn't get talked about but I quite like that design as well. I like how it's a blend of so many different and ancient cultures since Atlantis was supposed to be the mother of all cultures. Although to be honest, I like the natural environment of Atlantis a lot more than the palace itself.
There was more than one?DisneyBluLife wrote:I like the castles in Fun and fancy free.
I initially had that on my list, but to me, and I totally may be wrong, it's like one mountainous fortress, if you will, so I felt that the castle/palace isn't a separate entity, but part of the whole of the mountainous fortress of Atlantis? I don't even know if that makes sense, but that's why I didn't include it. But I do also like the visuals of it.JeanGreyForever wrote:The palace in Atlantis didn't get talked about but I quite like that design as well. You're so lucky! All the art for this collection comes straight from the book so I imagine the same will apply to the rest of the castles.Jack Skellington wrote:I was lucky enough to get the puzzle before it sold out. I’ve finished most of it already, this really is the year of jigsaw puzzles. I noticed that they pretty much just took the art found in some books that have been released previously to show you what castles look like from the inside, and unfortunately not all of them looked as nice as the first one. I noticed that the interior of the castle that I can see in the back of the puzzle cover is exactly like the one in the book, which might be disappointing as I’m not impressed by how inaccurate the Beasts castle looks like. I think Mulan and Aurora’s castles turned alright though.
You can preview the book on this link: http://www.dlifestylers.com/2020/04/dis ... tle-books/
All the other castles in the collection will have puzzles based on the book art so if you look at that link that Jack Skellington posted and find a specific image for a castle that you really would like in puzzle form, just make sure to pick it up as soon as it's released because they sell out quickly. Right now the next castle in the collection is Frozen (which wasn't part of the book) so there's still some time before the collection continues past Cinderella.Avaitor wrote:That's such a terrific-looking puzzle. I wish I knew about it before it sold out.
I'll have to check out all the other castles to do my own ranking. I do know that Cinderella's will rank quite high, though.
I always liked the castle in Happy Valley. I wish we could have seen Minnie as a princess or queen of the castle like Walt originally planned before cutting the segment out.DisneyBluLife wrote:Yes, in "Fun and fancy free" there is the giant's castle and the singing harp's castle in Happy Valley.
I think I regret putting Sleeping Beauty as #6. I should put it at #5 at least even if that means taking Snow White's castle out of the top five.Disney Duster wrote:Random, but I followed some links from Jack Skellington, and saw the Sleeping Beauty storybook Loungefly book bag and said "Wow!" I guess that's more evidence it is the most beautiful one even if I personally think it's Cinderella's lol.

I guess Narissa inherited or married into a very good person's castle! Or, you know, there was a good person that castle was built for in the lineage.
Atlantis has such cool everything! I only saw the film a few times...it may even have only been once, and I just remember thinking it all was very cool.
Going by the below images I would say it's a palace built on a mountain. And the following link that ranks the castles and palaces does include the Atlantis one.blackcauldron85 wrote:I initially had that on my list, but to me, and I totally may be wrong, it's like one mountainous fortress, if you will, so I felt that the castle/palace isn't a separate entity, but part of the whole of the mountainous fortress of Atlantis? Oh! Well I looked and I like both castles, but the one I ranked is the Happy Valley one!DisneyBluLife wrote:Yes, in "Fun and fancy free" there is the giant's castle and the singing harp's castle in Happy Valley.
It's alright. Aurora's really is so medieval fairy tale though.JeanGreyForever wrote:I think I regret putting Sleeping Beauty as #6. I should put it at #5 at least even if that means taking Snow White's castle out of the top five.
Edward's father was probably a good king like Snow White's father before he married Grimhilde.
I saw Atlantis again just two days ago on Disney+ so it's fresh in my mind (the Disney covers thread inspired me because I really liked the foreign special editions of the film). I really don't think it's such a bad film and it doesn't deserve the bad reputation it gets.
Ah, Frozen's next? Is it just going to be Arendelle's castle, or also Elsa's ice castle? Because I can take or leave the former, but I do really like Elsa's castle.JeanGreyForever wrote:All the other castles in the collection will have puzzles based on the book art so if you look at that link that Jack Skellington posted and find a specific image for a castle that you really would like in puzzle form, just make sure to pick it up as soon as it's released because they sell out quickly. You're right, the main tower is really, really short. I'm not sure why they changed it since it was much taller in the film and those pics you posted. I disagree about the color though. I think it's supposed to be that cream color or at least a light gray like in the film screenshot you posted. That lavender from the Tokyo castle doesn't seem accurate.Jack Skellington wrote:Lol where to begin, the main tower and the color is totally off, the one that was supposed to open in Tokyo Disneyland is more accurate, anyway hopefully they plan to change it but I’m guessing because of the pin set frame you can already tell they stuck to the book version.

I agree about the feels because the film has a really fast pace but the visuals are gorgeous. Treasure Planet has somewhat of the same problem but it has a lot more heart and emotion imo and it succeeds in that.Disney Duster wrote:Oh! Yes, yes Edward's father probably was.
Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed Atlantis. From what I remember the movie really doesn't deliver in the feels, but it's cool in the visuals.
Yes, Frozen is next. The order is posted in that picture I have in the first post of all the princess banners. It's Anna's castle going by the silhouette from the pin set. I'm really surprised they didn't include Elsa's ice palace as well though.Avaitor wrote:Ah, Frozen's next? Is it just going to be Arendelle's castle, or also Elsa's ice castle? I really love your rankings and they're similar to mine.Avaitor wrote:Castle rankings:
1. Aladdin (Sultan's Palace)- I won't lie, I've dreamed of this palace for as long as I can remember. It's the perfect size, and has the right touches of gold and splendor to it. I may have bumped it up a spot due to my love of Aladdin as a whole, but seeing it shine at night still inspires me.
2. Cinderella (King's Castle)- Utterly gorgeous, basically everything you think of when you think of the classic Disney castles. It's also surprisingly subtle in its details, which I love.
3. Beauty and the Beast (Beast's Castle)- Even before and after the transformation, there's something off and foreboding about this, which I dig. It's very neatly built overall.
4. Sleeping Beauty (King Stefan's Castle)- Big and beautiful. It's bold and to the point. I think Maleficent's castle makes a good contrast to it, personally.
5. Snow White (The Queen's Castle)- It's a little quaint in comparison, but still charming and quite nice. We're just talking exterior, which is why it ranks here, because I do really love the Queen's lair. Although the courtyard is quite nice, too.
6. The Little Mermaid (Prince Eric's Castle)- I like the size and the seaside setting, but I'm not as impressed with it as I am others. If we were talking Atlantica, though, that's easy top 3 material.
7. Frozen (Arendelle Castle)- The castle itself looks nice, but the walls turn me off. I do like the shade of pink, and would probably rank it a slot or two lower if it wasn't for the walls.
8. Mulan (Imperial City Palace)- It's quite handsome, and obviously different from everything else, but not really what I expect or look for compared to the others. It might deserve a slightly higher slot or two, but meh.
9. Brave (Castle DunBoch)- It's nice enough. More sturdy than attractive, but that's true of most Scottish castles. Like the movie itself, I don't have a lot of use for it, but it's nice to see it's there doing its own thing regardless.
10. Tangled (Corona Castle)- At best, it's just fine, but like Tangled in general, it feels like more of a mesh of things that just don't really work. It could be more offensive, I guess.
Hey, since I love Cinderella so much, would you mind explaining what you meant? You can use examples.Avaitor wrote:2. I agree! It's foreboding in the opening shot!Avaitor wrote:3. Beauty and the Beast (Beast's Castle)- Even before and after the transformation, there's something off and foreboding about this, which I dig. It's very neatly built overall.
Did you mean it would rank higher of it wasn't for the walls?Avaitor wrote:7. Frozen (Arendelle Castle)- The castle itself looks nice, but the walls turn me off. I do like the shade of pink, and would probably rank it a slot or two lower if it wasn't for the walls.
I agree, but I also mean, like, Kida's story with her mother is supposed to be emotional but it really isn't. And I forget why the stones let her live but not her mother.JeanGreyForever wrote:I agree about the feels because the film has a really fast pace but the visuals are gorgeous. Hmm, well, I do really like how the color of the castle glistens, especially at night. During the day, it's a handsome shade of light blue, which brightens up as the sun leaves.Disney Duster wrote:Hey, since I love Cinderella so much, would you mind explaining what you meant? The King says that Kida's mother was bonded to the crystal for too long and the same fate was in store for Kida if they didn't save her in time.Disney Duster wrote:I agree, but I also mean, like, Kida's story with her mother is supposed to be emotional but it really isn't. They're so expensive now second-hand which is a real shame. I also wanted the other princess castle playsets. I had one for The Little Mermaid although it wasn't as small as the Aladdin Polly Pocket style.Avaitor wrote:Oop, if it's Triton's castle, then that changes things. I'd put it either second or third, probably.
Ooh, I love that playset! I always wanted something like that for my own, but I don't think that I ever got one. Which sucks, because my Aladdin and Razoul figures deserved a place of their own. Also, thanks!
It's the last one in the collection so you have loads of time to save up for $150 if it's a money issue. Frankly they're overpriced imo. For the quality and size, they should be $100 or $125 at most.farerb wrote:https://youtu.be/Zntb9vPvsf0
I would have loved to have Beauty and the Beast but I'll probably pass.
