I liked that trailer too. The movie looks great to me so far.

Damn, I didn't know Tony Leung was going to be in this. I'm suddenly interested in it now.

It looks really good. My husband called it a "CGI nightmare," but I think Marvel has been disappointing him lately for some reason.

The first reactions are very positive. The critics especially praise the action, but they also say the film doesn't lack heart and humor. Most of them also highlight Simu Liu's performance as Shang-Chi:

UPDATE: The actual reviews are also really good. The film currently has a 91% score on
Rotten Tomatoes with more than 100 reviews.

Saw Shang-Chi yesterday with some friends, and we ADORED IT. This movie isn't a superhero movie. It's a martial arts fantasy movie in a superhero universe that fully embraces mythology, and has a sense of humor that doesn't detract it's consistent emotional sincerities.
This movie felt like the closest thing to a great on camera Shonen anime film, almost like The Boy and the Beast, and I love it for that.

I loved it too. In fact, I've already seen it twice and I rarely see a movie more than once in theaters. The only other Marvel film I saw a second time on the big screen was Black Panther. I didn't like Shang-Chi as much as that film or Guardians of the Galaxy (my two favorite MCU films), but it'll probably end up in my top ten from Marvel & Disney. I agree with what you said, DVDBuff1, the action, fantasy and humor were great (the fantasy elements from the trailer I didn't understand did make sense in the context of the film), but the film also has very interesting and well developed family relationships at its core. The actors also did a great job, in my opinion, especially Simu Liu, Awkwafina and Tony Leung.

I was disappointed by this. I'd just heard how popular it was and it had Awkwafina (who I love)!! I really expected good things and, well... I found it kind of dull overall. My favorite scene was the bus (trolley?) fight scene and the crash afterwards. Aside from that, I can't think of much I enjoyed, other than Morris. Oh, and I was glad Awkwafina seemed kinda sorta the love interest rather than simply a sidekick.
