Too bad Ashley Brown didn't work out. I don't know anyone. I'll try to look up some videos of the Eglantine's actress at least later on.

The logo is...interesting. I like the idea of it, although the execution, not so much. That said, it was probably smart of them to make the logo that on-the-nose because I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of today's generation only have a vague idea of what this is.

I wonder if she's been miscast. I expect a more delicate voice for this role.

Unsure whether this is purely due to her voice (which there is nothing really wrong with - I think it's just that her sound may not be suited to these sort of songs, or not what we were bound to expect.) It might also be the musical interpretation. I do think that despite her vocals having a piercing quality, she can tone them down to create dynamic and textural contrasts, the way all musicians do on their respective instrument.

It feels like she's singing fortissimo and never letting up.

I can't find anything online about this.

I was really pleased with the song clips... I'm easy to please I guess.

Hey! I've never heard of Diane Pilkington before, but I hardly think she would have been chosen for a high profile production like this if she were an incompetent singer. :) I am sure she is very capable, and I wouldn't be surprised if she has classical training.

I think those clips are too short to judge her true merits as a singer. I think what I (and others) didn't like about her voice was a perceived mismatch between it and the music already familiar to us. I think if I had discovered Pilkington on a new and original musical composition my mind would not have homed in accusingly on her vocals the way it did here.

As I wrote above, this is either something Pilkington can improve by altering her musical interpretation of the pieces, or she may just not have been the right singer to take on the role of Eglantine. But she may be great in another role! Who knows?

Okay, so I’m wondering a couple things.

1) Why is Charlie now the eldest of the Rawlins kids? Last I checked, Carrie was the eldest, Charlie was the middle child and Paul was the youngest.

2) Is the bed self-illuminated during the flying scenes like the car in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? Because that’s the vibe I’m getting from the publicity pic.

Also, I wonder how they’ll pull off the flight on broomstick scenes.

Charlie was the oldest in the movie too.
