Well some Disney movies like Tarzan would still have to use the old logo if they had anything transitioning into the film like different music playing over them. Then again, it didn't stop them from replacing the original logo from the first Toy Story movie and ruining the scene transition that it had.

^Or the Lion King. The jungle noises were taken out when they replaced the old White Castle logo with that awful "When You Wish Upon a Star," CG-logo that takes FOREVER to end. Pocahontas had beating drums over the logo, Hunchback had bells ringing... were there any others? Those build-ups to the movie were definitely exciting and part of the appeal. I couldn't imagine Hunchback without those bells ringing before the slam-bam POWER of Alan Menken's Hellfire theme hitting us like a brick. It really snaps you into the movie.

Those transitions were very memorable and it was a great way to get you into the movie you were about to see. Frozen thankfully did just that with the hymn at the beginning.

And which films so far have had their logos replaced? Everything?

I decided I couldn't wait, since Hercules is probably my fourth-favorite overall Disney movie and I've been hoping that this would eventually get a Blu-ray release. I got it off of eBay. Had to pay a little extra than I would if I got it on release date, but it was worth it.

It was absolutely gorgeous on Blu-ray, as I knew it would be. So happy I bought it early.

Soooo.... is that it? The bonus features are the same as the old dvd plus the Zero to Hero sing-along??? R they friggin kidding me???

You act surprised. Have you not been paying attention to blu-ray releases of Disney movies for the past few years?

Plus, the best part is that Disney sells these BD releases at full price.

Are these titles the same price as DE titles over there? In Australia these titles will only be $12, as opposed to DE titles which are $28-38 RRP.

So no, they don´t even have the decency to sell it cheap. That just happens when a store puts them on sale occasionally.

Yes, I have been paying attention. But many lesser titles have gotten more special features. C;mon... something! An audio commentary! A gallery? Its not like it would cost them millions! How much can it cost to record a commentary with two directors that are already employed by the studio???

Don't worry, I know how you feel. Even Hunchback of Notre Dame had a commentary on it's own Gold Collection DVD while Hercules didn't.

Disney did the same thing with the Pixar movies.

Remember when either on DVD (Finding Nemo, The Incredibles) or BD (Up, Wall e) their first releases (and mainly only) were 2 discs packed with extras? Then, they decided they would not include the extras unless you bought the 3D version of the movie (the obviously most expensive one).

And going back to Disney Classics... What about when Black Cauldron was promoted as been full of extras?

And it really hurts because the movies up until Tarzan (including Hercules and Hunchback) were part of the Renaissance. So people liked them; maybe some more than others but still nothing in comparison to what came before or after. And they know how much true Disney fans were expecting great editions out of these movies.

Funny thing is that, who would have known that a movie like Alice in Wonderland (that we all know that even though people like it very much Walt Disney himself didn´t like it) got such incredible releases; Masterpiece-Unbirthday?

Yet we couldn´t get the same treatment for much more popular and well known to regular kids and adults alike.

...when both Hercules and Hunchback were released on BD in Spain for a period of time they were at the top sales. And trust me when I say that´s truly amazing when it comes to Disney animation (aside from the CGI ones) because Spain doesn´t have the same love for these movies as in the USA; that´s why when offers show they sell them at half price or 2 X 1. When does this happen in USA? Never. Because they know Disney is Disney and always sells. In Spain is the opposite: they don´t sell that well so they have to urge people to buy them.

Well, Im not even looking at all disney movies. But Hercules happens to have the distinction to be the ONLY film from the 90s renaissance NOT to have an audio commentary. It might also be the only one without a proper "making-of" (the one included is less than 1o mins I believe).

Pocahontas, Mulan, Tarzan all had GREAT releases on dvd at one time or another. Even hunchback had a great release in laserdisc, and even the bonus features that were transferred to dvd were pretty good. But Hercules has NEVER had a release even close to any other Disney Renaissance film.

Not really. Rescuers Down Under doesn't have one either.

Yes, but as much as supposedly Disney doesn´t want to acknowledge The Black Cauldron (yet they made a Special 25 Anniversary The Horned King Vinylmation) The Rescuers Down Under is one that they truly they barely want to know it exists as well. As I recall, when it was on theaters they removed all kind of publicity for the movie from the media.

And ironically it's the one Disney sequel that's considered the best (some would even say better than the original Rescuers movie). It's certainly above all the direct-to-video sequels, not that I'm one of those people who thinks that all direct-to-video Disney products are an abomination.

I dont intend to debate the merits of Rescuers Down Under, but I am sure we can all agree it doesn't match in content, style or success all the other films of the Renaissance. Just cause it happened inbetween other ones, doesn't make it part of it, in my opinion.

But fine... RDU should have a commentary too.

I once mentioned that if I was in charge I´d give EVERY movie it´s time in the spotlight. How? Randomly I´d choose one that would be highlighted for several months on the Disney Website, stores and such. In the Disney Stores I´d place a wall where, let´s say, the Hercules movie would be sold alongside merchandise from it. After several months another movie take its place and so on. That way all movies will always be remembered and experienced by people who wouldn´t know them otherwise.

That sounds like a pretty fabulous idea !! And not a 'Disney fan fantasy' kind of idea either, it seems completely logical to me.
