Anna is a near perfect clone of Rapunzel. Google it and you'll see it.
The design of Rapunzel has never appealed to me and I can't put my finger on why. Part of me thinks the design is a little bland.
I can kinda see a similarity between Ariel and Rapunzel (big eyes) but I put that down to being both Glen Keane designs.
Mooky wrote:Ray's design is really unappealing, too, but it sort of has its own charm.

I though Ray was incredibly ugly. That is a character I just cannot find any liking for - looks or personality wise.

I am also with the general Merida consensus. Not a great design but kind of interesting to have a princess who for once doesn't make me feel inadequate. I love her hair, the face was a bit off.

As for Fish Hooks and Phineas and Ferb - I couldn't watch them even if I wanted too. So so ugly and cheap looking.

Wow. You're a horrible person.

If this was about poorly-designed characters, this thread could be constructive; but talking about the ugliest is a bit unpleasant.
thank you. I wanted to say something too but decided best to not participate in the thread. Bad designs are one thing, but "she's ugly, kill her"? is a bit much.

Most of the designs from "Tarzan", "Lilo & Stitch" and "Frozen". Bland designs.

I agree with everything that's been said about Eilonwy. Book Eilonwy's such a vibrant character. She's described as having red-gold hair, blue eyes, a short white dress with a gold belt, a silver crescent necklace, and sandals. Her design was already there (and a much more interesting one), but instead they made her as bland as possible. I don't like Dallben's design either.

As much as I love Jim as a character, I've always wondered about his design. His chin/lip area doesn't make much sense to me, and neither does his "mask." I like the rest of his design, but those things distract me when I watch TP.

Every character in Chicken Little is really ugly.

A lot of the Disney guys have this look that my sister and I refer to as "hollow." They look like there's nothing in there. Naveen was the latest to share that. I don't know why Disney can't get their guys to look as alive and charismatic as the girls.

OOOOHHHH, I just remembered the one that bothers me the most. Christopher Robin in Winnie the Pooh. You know, the movie where he grows these huge, never-before-seen Disney eyes? That one offends me personally. :P

Oh please. They go hand in hand.

I find her design ugly...so her character is ugly. She's not ugly, she's just drawn that way.

I don't mind unattractive/average looking characters but she doesn't look like a human. She has an alien head and tiny weird features that look even stranger in motion. Pixar tried a new aesthetic for their human characters, and it didn't succeed. I liked her hair though.

And she's an animated fictional character so it's not like I'm going to hurt her feelings

The attempts to shove her in the Disney Princess brand ARE ridiculous because she has a completely different aesthetic and sticks out like a sore thumb. I'm not the first to say this.

I have to side with the devil incarnate that is Ms Cluck, unfortunately. :P Maybe Frankenollie can win round two with one of his witticisms.

Princess Jasmine running around in just a bra and pants. She should be wearing a dress. Ariel and the mermaids in seashells are just as bad. They need to put something on.

Jasmine's in the desert, it's too fucking hot to put on a dress. As for Ariel...Mermaids always wear bras. Either that or they're topless.

Dunno how are they bad designs. :?

Jasmine needs to cover up but it's fine for Aladdin to be running around almost shirtless and barefoot. Tarzan is pretty much naked. And yes everyone wears a prom dress when they are swimming in the ocean.

Ariel shouldn't wear her shells and have long hair for safety reasons. Imagine a kink in her hair snagging on a splintered board trying to flee the shark inside the sunken ship. Shark chow! Her shells could anger scallops they were harvested from. Pinched to death!

Oh, and I love Ariel to death. My bedroom isn't complete without at least one Mermaid Ariel (feel eh about her human form) item in it. :tlm:

oh my gosh, lol so hard !

Eric- Love him, but his design is so bland. I think from memory on the Little Mermaid 2006 DVD, that they said that "nobody wants to animate Prince Charming " so guess that's why they half-assed his design.

Olaf- Again, love him. But he makes Quasi look beautiful.

Anna- Wished that she looked less Rapunzel and more something unique and fresh, she's still a cute character though.

Tarzan- They couldn't do more than just a brown cloth hiding his 'thing ' ?

Chicken Little- Looks too cartoon-y, and not like something like Disney would make, but they did.

Meet the Robinson's characters bar Franny- They all look rather bland.

Jim Hawkins- I don't understand why most of the younger Disney fandom find this guy attractive, it looks like he was created in the mid 80's with that dreadful hair of his.

Atlantis bar Kida- Again, they all look so damn bland and dry. Kida is the only one that design-wise, looks interesting.

Who the hell swims in a dress!?

I guess bradhig would like to see them dressed as Nuns/Belle's maid dress.

Lol bradhig.

I hate Belle's blue dress personally. She looks more like a maid than a country girl. She should be cleaning my house instead of falling in love with the Beast.

:D

The definition of a slut is "a woman who has many casual sexual partners." So unless there are deleted scenes floating around of Ariel and Grimsby getting it on or Jasmine and Razoul's passionate affair neither girl is a slut. Just because their bodies are more exposed than the others means nothing. I've seen 16 year old girls in real life wearing much worse.

Why is it that humans are so afraid of the human body?

I agree, Jay, it's noticable that the complaints of the scantily-clad only mention Ariel and Jasmine, but leave out Tarzan, Aladdin, Mowgli, etc. Might as well throw in David Kawena, since he is shirtless most of the movie--and how is that any different than bikini's?

Eeeh I wouldn't feel okay mentioning Mowgli. That sounds a bit too much like pedophilia.

But yes, bradhig, why so prudish? Funny you don't mention Jessica Rabbit in your countdown. (People always call her the "slut" of Disney...)
