Actually it was both of us. We both didn't like the character. But I was the one who dubs the term "Louis the FAILigator".
Yeah, and like I said, it left me frustrated to no end and the further the insults went, the more frustrated it left me. You have to understand, anytime his character gets insulted, it hurts the Louis fan in me. It doesn't help the fact I happen to have a crush on him (even though I'm in a committed relationship with
nachonaco).

Nothing other than the usual "cartoons are for kids" crap.

My Mum was concerned about it at first because most teens go out and party, get drunk and everything and here was me a 17 year old staying up to watch Little Mermaid. She didn't say anything, but I could tell that she was worried and concerned about it and even sold off my old Disney DVD's and Disney soundtracks as in like a "hint, hint "
However I kept watching movies and just ignoring it and it took about five-six years but she's gotten used to it and she even sat down by the sofa and watched and enjoyed 101 Dalmatians laughing and smiling all the way through and even enjoyed watching Lady and the Tramp with me.
But it's mostly Disney is a kid's media, why are you watching a Disney movie ? You are a adult not a baby, this is strange, a Disney male fan friend of mine has been called a "pedophile " by a few strangers and Disney movies are people aged 3-10 only.

The perception that male Disney fans are pedophiles or gay (or both) is actually pretty common. Sick.

I don't really get particularly negetative receptions about being Disney fan.I guess people associate it with my love for music and broadway.I also perceivee Disney as a form of nostalgia so no one has a problem with that.I think that people have a bad perception of Disney fans through Disney's child friendly image.I remeber back in Grade 9 a girl complained about having to see Wall-E with her baby cousin rather than seeing the Incredible Hulk.It.s ok to have this attitude when one movie is Rock-a-Doodle and the otwher is Titanic, but man,Wall-E was abetter movie than Incredible Hulk.

The Incredible Bore, er I mean Hulk.... sucked bad. WALL-E is a masterpiece.

Your mom sold your Disney DVDs and OST's just to get you socializing?! Da f*ck?! Could've been better ways. Even stranger, I've been doing the same thing (watch films/shows rather than going out), but my parents wouldn't fully care what I do.
Luckily for me, I would place my Disney collection... in a spot that my parents and relatives wouldn't notice. (i.e. Had to put them in a different floor that would show off that collection.) Hell, I can't even watch Disney films with many of those that I know anymore because... time to act like everyone else is doing! (yes you should do you own thing, but it wouldn't hurt to stay up-to-date)
However I kept watching movies and just ignoring it and it took about five-six years but she's gotten used to it and she even sat down by the sofa and watched and enjoyed 101 Dalmatians laughing and smiling all the way through and even enjoyed watching Lady and the Tramp with me.
Well, glad to see your mother still respects your appreciation to classic Disney.

I blame the current Disney for that. Most might have forgotten how much they love those films when they saw it as a kid. Plus, the amount of Disney Channel shows after 2005 (not concerned about kindergarten programming)/Direct-to-Video films/toys practically changed what Disney used to be.
The Incredible Bore, er I mean Hulk.... sucked bad. WALL-E is a masterpiece.
... But... but I like The Incredible Hulk. Not a fan of its franchise, but it's a hell of a lot better than Ang Lee's "Hulk".
Obviously, there's no way that I'd prefer Inc. Hulk over Wall-E.

He sounds like a total dick and is probably a pedobear himself.

Considering how many gays join this forum alone, how many times I've mistaken the user for girl instead of a guy, and the theme parks even having a Gay day, That perception seems to be dead on.
The pedophile one is new and I never heard of before. I don't seems to understand the connection either

I don't mean to start anything, Super Aurora, but I mistook you for a woman at first, too. It was probably your avatar and username.

The avatar is my drawing of one of my personal original character. I drew that. But yeah it's fine.

Some people believe that only children are supposed to like such "childish" things, and that the only way a grown man could possibly show any interest in something like Disney has to be for the twisted sake of luring children, or because there's something creepily wrong with them. Pedophiles have been known to lure, unfortunately; not just through manipulating children with Disney material, but with anything that's childhood friendly, from cartoons to candy to toys. A quick glimpse through the profile of a sexual predator can be rather alarming (Earl Bradley comes to mind), but it's obviously a completely different mindset from a collector or enthusiast.

Actually, it was the Ariel avatar that confused me. But I do like your drawings.

I wasn't teased. Most of the people in my area at least understand that people like Disney stuff. Been teased for other stuff(curse you Homer Simpson for making Briefs funny!)and yes some people retain the stereotypes, but it's all good here.

Ah. I thought that was the reason, but still it's funny/unusual since it been statistically proved that majority of pedophilia happens from a relative or close friend/neighbor rather than a stranger.
But I do see what you mean. I remember someone saying that they didn't go to the enchanted time with belle in MK because they didn't want others to think they were pedophiles going in to a meet and greet that seems to aim it's entertainment focus for children.

Which is why it's such a poor generalization to make, as there really is nothing wrong with being an adult that enjoys family-oriented entertainment. The majority of those drawn to Disney are genuinely fans. Although to be fair, a predatory relative or close friend/neighbor often looks for ways to get the attention and trust of their victims, and exploring what children are interested in is typically a part of that.

Yeah, you'll probably notice the playground areas of public parks often have signs banning the loitering of adults without children; people get highly suspicious of anyone hanging around in children-themed places without kids. For example, the man that kidnapped Jaycee Lee Dugard targeted children in such a way, under the guise of having his wife videotape his singing in public parks (when in fact, he actually had her scouting for victims with their camera).
And when it comes to those like you mentioned, they're all too aware of the stereotypes and would rather not be mistaken for being total creeps. It's sad that anyone has to worry about these sort of situations in the first place, but there are a lot of sickos out there. Dr. Earl Bradley's pediatric office was decorated with carnival rides, a giant Buzz Lightyear statue, and even had a theater that showed Disney movies. He ended up becoming known as "the worst pedophile in American history," which makes any interest he had in family entertainment incredibly creepy. It seems rather ironic that Disney fans sometimes get lumped in with the likes of his kind, but some are quick to judge when they don't understand how there can be a genuine appreciation for something widely considered as children's fodder.

Yeah they thought that because he enjoyed "baby things " that he must secretly be into kids.
I hear that Brony fans get this judgement and assumption quite a bit too :/

By the way, are you serious about the Gay day thing?

Yeah, he's serious. Sometime in the early spring, all the Orlando parks (and I assume Disneyland as well) unofficially host Gay Days. They pick a color shirt to represent themselves and they attend several events. Note that it is NOT an official Disney event, much like Dapper Days is at Disneyland.
