Estefan, I hate to break it to you, but this is being made by the same minds behind the 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' movies and a majority of people know how those turned out.

The article also states they produced Casper and the Stuart Little movies, which I liked. Brave Little Toaster has more in common with those flicks, since the source material itself is good and the characters are likeable. My main issue with Alvin and the Chipmunks has always been that I can't stand the characters. While I'm sure it's possible to accomplish, I've yet to see an Alvin production done well (yes, that includes the beloved 80s Saturday morning cartoon and the Chipmunk Adventure. Not a fan of those, either).

I don't think it's fair to already label this film as terrible when they haven't even started shooting yet. It doesn't even look like they've hired a director yet. Already calling it a disaster is the equivalent of a teacher failing a student on his next project purely because he gave a poor grade to his previous assignment. But that's just my philosophy on upcoming movies. Why do we live in an age where we critique movies, based on press releases? Honestly.

Personally I've never been a fan of animation outside Disney/Pixar these days, it seems companies like Illumination/Blue Sky/Sony make crapload of films with no appeal inside them to the adult crowd. So escencially babysitter films. :P

As for this...Going wrong, this film could be the next Garbage Pail Kids.

That had no chance of being good...this could be though......umm....well...ok I'm skeptical.

... what? They're remaking this childhood film of mine in what? Being produced from the team of Chipmunks? ... what what? ... WAIT, WHAAAAAT?!
... Nope. Just... Nope. I'm betting that leaked script is just a joke. Good job on that satire, thelittleursula! No way that they won't stoop this low like they did for Chipmunks. ... THEY CAN'T DO THIS! THERE IS NO WAY THAT THEIR APPROACH WILL WORK ON THIS FILM. This is one of those films that once it's done in its original form, IT SHOULD STAY IN THAT FORM. WHY CAN'T HOLLYWOOD UNDERSTAND THIS?!
... I really like this film ever since I was a kid. The disturbing imagery was one of the main reasons why I like this films. They remove that special element and downgrade the characters. ... Hey... who took my handgun? I need that in the case that they keep this approach. My childhood life won't take it if someone does not give me back that handgun! Don't make me get tortured any further!!

(But seriously though, didn't give a sh*t when it came to Chipmunks remake, probably will do the same here.)

For the last time, it's not a remake. The Brave Little Toaster was a book before being turned into an animated film.

...Sorry, one of my biggest pet peeves is the definition of "remake." I'm extremely strict about that sort of thing.

Ohhh Okay. Still I'm not sure about this idea, however maybe when a trailer comes out I'll fall in love with it.

Also I think I just saw the biggest overreactions of the year throughout this thread :milkbuds:

If there should be another Brave Little Toaster, it should be done by Disney with art direction by Mike Giaimo and Lisa Keene; not another Live Action/CG piece of pure filthy garbage.

Lord have mercy.

So it'll actually be a live-action/CGI adaptaion of a book... that makes sense. But if not given in the right hands, it'll be a schlock.

This definitely has potential, regardless of how one feels about the Chipmunks; although it's admittedly not an outstanding movie, the first film isn't nearly as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

I'm surprised so many are freaking out over this. :p If you really think about it, the characters and story are absolutely perfect for CG. I was saying years ago that I kinda hoped Pixar would do a take on the story, given that they could pull off the creepy, whimsical atmosphere along with the photorealism of the appliances. And as everyone knows, it's the project that initially got Lasseter fired from Disney back in the 80's so it only seems right for it to come full circle in a way.

^Yeah, I love the original film; I drew that four years ago.

My only qualm is that I'm so attached to the original animated film. The voice work and songs are a huge part of its appeal to me and those can't be properly captured in another production. But as already stated, it looks to be a new take on the original novella anyway. I haven't read it for myself, but I do know that it does have a completely different ending than the animated film, so there's definitely more material to explore than just a rehash.

If they can manage to create the aforementioned whimsical and creepy atmosphere, I say bring it on. :milkbuds:

They already did.

It was called "Toy Story 3". :)
