And you know that's a good choice for the post-66-77 animated Disney flicks.
Since when cropping a film to hell is a good choice? This film has always been shown in 4:3 on home video.

Well, most of the films were matted to 1.66:1 or 1.75:1 during this time (being animated in fullscreen and then matted to widescreen; all of the important information is retained usually). I don't know if that was entirely true with Pooh since it was animated at different times and then put together, but matting it was kind of the standard for Disney in the 60s and 70s.

I know that but that doesn't change the facts that they cropped the films to do so (and not only those films, older classics like Snow White were cropped at that time)

Usually studios nowadays will sometimes follow a pre/post-53 rule when it comes to home video. The rule is anything up to 53 is full screen and anything 54 and above is widescreen but that is for material that was made in full screen and matted in widescreen for theaters. The same thing applied to the first Looney Tunes Super Stars discs and the Tom and Jerry Chuck Jones Collection. Now the studios do have a choice on how to release the material for home video; ether present them matted as it was seen in theaters or present them in full screen as how they were made.

it would have been a lot more cooler if all of the shorts presented in their opening titles i.e. the Buena Vista logo at the beginning, the fifth one Winnie the Pooh Discovers the Seasons restored, and even Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too as a special feature but it'll be amazing seeing this movie restored.

Apologies in advance if anyone thought there would be an update due to my bumping of this thread.

I'm guessing anyday now we'll get an annoucement. Seeing is how were now in Spring, May would be a appropriate date.

I wouldn't be surprised if they pull a "Dumbo" here and postpone it.

"Best Buy has listed Disney’s The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh for Blu-ray and DVD release on 8/27, though this has yet to be officially confirmed by Disney so take it with a grain of salt."

A pretty decent cover. At least they didn't use something like Friendship Edition, where it looks like it was done in Photoshop. Pooh looks like he is about to crush Eeyore on the Blu-Ray cover.

I like this cover, it would of been nice to included Rabbit, Owl, and Christopher Robin, but over all not a bad cover. Too bad that it's not called The Walt Disney Classic, but that's better than slapping 36th Anniversary Edition across the top.

I was just watching this film, and my husband came out right after the song "The Rain Rain Rain Came Down Down Down," and he wondered if the rain effect was made by crumpled celluloid? Any ideas how the rain effect was created?

Hello. I unfortunately do not know the answer to this question but I'm requoting so someone might see if they missed it the first time and answer your wonderful question! God bless you and your husband! :) Anyone who is a friend of Winnie the Pooh deserves all the happiness in the world.
