It been canceled do to productions problems. Sorry, Alex
Don't feel sorry. I didn't think it sounded good at all. It was actually probably the dumbest idea I have ever heard for an animated movie. I put it right up there with "Rapunzel: Unbraided." With how popular the Disney Princess franchise is (by the way, I was at Wal Mart today and there is now a cereal) there is no need to try and compete with "Shrek." I think a 2D Rapunzel musical in the style of "Beauty and the Beast" would do extremely well, and I don't understand why Disney dosen't see this. Does anybody see a 2D Rapunzel bombing at the box office? I see a spoof of Rapunzel in CG doing not so good. Not so good at all.

I think that the Rapunzel will do good at the box office.
It sounds good to me. I would watch it. If it's like Beauty and the Beast or Aladdin I would definite watch it.

Mulan 3 will star Mulan and Shang's daughter. I can't remember her name, though.

Now THAT sounds really disgusting, I mean, come on. Maybe it'll be better than the 2nd, we can only hope. But...

I am against all of these sequels and think it is very stupid to make "Mulan" into a trilogy, but I read somewhere that the original producer of "Mulan" is returning to work on the third film.

I'm really glad to see Mulan as a triology set.
I really enjoyed the first one and hope to enjoy the two sequels that are coming soon to direct to DVD.
I can't wait....

Has this been canceled, or is it so early in it's production faze that no year is announced? It sounds kind of lame, but so do some of Disney's other upcoming CG films.
THAT sounds funny

But as an animated feature?? Not sure it has the strength for that. Maybe as a segment in something like Shrek. Perhaps that's another reason it was cancelled.

I always thought "Gnomeo and Juliet" sounds really stupid, but I think it still might be in the works, I'm not sure. I read an interview where Don specifically said he was working with Eisner to make this film.

Well, people say that there's only seven story archetypes. So if you have to use and archetype for the basis of your films, taking on of the best ("Romeo and Juliet") seems like a good idea to me.
I'm sure Gnomeo and Juliet will be a fun movie if it is ever made. Lighten up people! Movies are meant to be fun! Sounding "stupid" is a plus point!

2099Net, I agree with you, but do you think that there's enough there to fill an entire feature? That's where I'm a bit skeptical. I could definitely see this in Shrek or something.

Well, I don't see why not. It has just as much mileage as a Chicken Little film for example.
Besides, if somebody said that they were going to make a version of Hamlet starring lions and a farting warthog, it would sound just as weak and stupid.

Hahha, very good point. There's definitely potential there. We'll just have to wait and see how it turns out if/when it's ever made, or as developments on its status come out.

Back to Rapunzel for a second-I don't think a 3-D comedy would do as well as the traditional 2-D drama in the same vein as Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid.
Maybe if someone informed Disney that Rapunzel could add to their Princess line and they'd make more money on a new set of dolls or clothes, they'd change their minds.
I'm also still hoping (possibly in vain) that Enchanted will come out soon.
