Aladdin Diamond Edition trailer has been classified as well. I'm very interested in seeing what's the story behind those two.

Scenarios

1) Peter Pan has been dropped but promotional material is labelled as a "Diamond edition" (similar to Fantasia's disc title)
2) we're getting 3 Diamonds a year

any other ideas? :p I believe it's the first scenario

I don't know about that. Have we actually heard that TLM diamond edition is next fall's release, or is everybody just assuming that because of the September 13 3d re-release? If it hasn't been confirmed, then I could see Peter Pan being the fall Diamond Edition, and TLM being released in February 2014 (which would also coincide with its 25th anniversary).

That's a nice theory actually (the 25th Anniversary). Yes, we are assuming this, since Disney has done this 2 times already (TLK, Nemo)

Arent the Fall releases normally the more heavy-weight Disney Classics?

TLK, BATB, etc etc. Something as huge as Mermaid wouldnt have a Spring release I'm pretty sure.

Ditto. Disney would never release Mermaid in the spring. It was their 2nd most selling PE and they have high hopes for it on blu ray as well.
And besides, why would they give it a 3d release in September 2013 and put it out on blu ray 5 months later? Not gonna happen :)

Disney has gotten so low-end it's pretty sad.

They've even gone cheap on blu-ray, look:

My only complaint is if they're going to give us half-assed crap then reduce the price (which will never happen).

I'm pretty sure The Little Mermaid will be Fall 2013's release as a Diamond Edition / 25th Anniversary. Sleeping Beauty was also released as a Platinum Anniversary edition, even though 2008 wasn't technically its Anniversary year and there are more examples of where they did so.

Maybe they WILL release 3 Diamonds a year now...
Aladdin, Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid next year, or maybe Pinocchio re-release instead of Peter Pan.
And The Jungle Book, Sleeping Beauty and either Peter Pan/Pinocchio in 2014.

I would really love to see 3 Diamond Editions per year. Although the prestige of the line may deteriorate slightly, I feel the line is not as prestigious as the Platinum Line anyway, with Bambi onwards feeling like watered down HD versions of the PE.

The Diamond Edition line has slowly but steadily become a little bit crap to be honest. I rememeber when the Platinum line started and it was so wonderful to begin with, then that then started to fade too. Disney always seems to do that, start well then loose interest.

Such a shame.

Brilliant ! Glad this is finally coming to Blu. I think I read somewhere that this and Alice were the most constantly released Disney Classics on home video ever .....

I hope that for this release that they include a feature on the rides in the park, much as the Cinderella Blu is focusing on the Fantasy land expansion. Plus, this release won't be geared towards Tinker Bell either, as the Platinum was.

I think that's Alice and Dumbo actually. Peter Pan hasn't had anymore releases than movies like Cinderella and Lady and the Tramp.

My known list of Peter Pan video releases:

1989/1990 - First VHS/Laserdisc release
1998 - 45th Anniversary VHS/Laserdisc reissue
1999 - Limited Edition DVD
2002 - Single Disc Special Edition DVD
2007 - Platinum Edition DVD
2013 - Blu-ray / DVD release [?]

Were there any others?
