I did, but I don't remember having any trouble getting over the idea that he didn't. Christmas doesn't really change when you realize he doesn't so I don't see why it should have.

On a different note, it's interesting to think about how much of Canada supports the idea that he does in pretend. Not only is there the Santa Claus Parade (largest in the world), his address, according to Canada Post is "North Pole, Canada*", There was a show on YTV where you could send it letters to him and he would read them back and of course, NORAD tracks his flight pattern and you could follow on your computer:http://www.noradsanta.org/.

*Do any of the other countries claiming arctic sovereignty in some form say he lives within their country?

Santa Calls was the name of the show! I loved that thing. I can only find one clip online though (with a home movie attached of whoever the kid calling in was).

As for the Toronto Santa Claus Parade I used to go EVERY year with my dad until my parents finally told me I was too old to make a four hour drive and over night trip just for a Parade. A perk of going to school in Toronto this year was it was about 50 mins to get to a good spot and I saw it in person again for the first time in forever. :)

Oh the nostalgia! :D I remember Mrs. Claus too, thanks for posting. I wonder when they stopped doing it? At least YTV still shows the unedited versions of the Rankin/Bass specials even if the prints are in rough shape.

I usually just watched it on TV, but I never did care for the hosts Global had, their constant yacking means you couldn't hear the music and the jokes were never funny.
