This is one of the strangest criticisms I've ever heard. Pretty much every Disney character, save for Milo, wouldn't understand Kida speaking in Atlantean.

Kida, though neither are fully finished, I feel a lot of potential is lost with Eilonwy. The movie implies she's sassy and has magic powers, but it does nothing with them. Plus her design is so generic.

If it helps, she doesn't really do anything magical in the books either. The one thing I do like about the Disney film is they give her bauble a personality. It's almost like it's alive at times.

It reminds me of the sugar dish in
The Sword in the Stone.

Her sassiness is pretty much lost when she's crying because Taran called her a girl. And her magic powers are such a wasted element in the film even if she didn't really come into them in the books until the third book and the film was only based on the first two. And I agree about her design, I think Andreas Deja said the same thing about her and Taran on his blog.
