I maybe wrong. Maybe it's not developed yet, because they don't have a plot yet.

I don't think it's gotten past the pitching stage at the moment. From what I can remember, the last thing rumoured of the film was that storyboards were being prepared for its pitch and since then nothing has been heard of it. Beyond Frozen, I don't think anything has been greenlit for production at WDAS, though its possible that they're still working on King of the Elves.

Yeah,if Disney was into poltics they would flip flop on so many issues that they would make a fish of out water envy.

At the end of the day its a harmless series utilising classic Disney characters that is aimed towards young children so what is the big deal about this programme? I really don't understand the fuss that some people are making about it. Is it just because its CG?

Kind of. But I just want Disney to understand that Mickey Mouse not only for preschoolers, but for everybody. I mean, now that Mickey Mouse is stuck in the preschool world, what happens if the big bratty kids are creating an Anti Mickey humor like Barney did. I just want Disney to make new hand drawn series of mickey and friends for everybody to watch, even the kids. And I thought House of Mouse is more successful than Mickey Mouse Works, but they lied. So I don't know what to do. I tried sending them a letter, not a threat letter, to tell them that I wish you made a hand drawn series of Mickey Mouse and friends, but they didn't send me back. It's like they're making me suffer of my OCD. I just want Disney to get back to normal.

Mickey Mouse isn't just for preschoolers at all; aren't they making a sequel to Epic Mickey, a very successful video game that wasn't aimed at preschool-age children? At the end of the day, if you don't like the show don't watch it. If you want to watch hand-drawn Mickey Mouse cartoons, simply go on youtube where you will find full episodes of House of Mouse and any short that he starred in. Mickey Mouse appeals to young children so why is it wrong for Disney to tap into that and create a show that appeals to that age bracket?

Not harmless, it dilutes the brand when when mickey is only association is mainly with a poorly animated preschool show. I'd be all for it if the CG wasn't so cheap looking, or there were other (modern) options

Fair point about the CG, although I don't think the show itself dilutes the Mickey Mouse brand. From what I've seen of it, which admittedly isn't much, the stories aren't terrible and at least the series is continuing to introduce younger audiences to these characters, especially those who are rarely heard of today such as Clarabelle Cow and Ludwig Von Drake. The series won't last forever but personally I think its a positive thing that these classic characters continue to appeal to audiences of all ages.

Well, they did release a handful of the Donald cartoons from the series as bonuses on "The Chronological Donald, Vol. 4", which is otherwise devoted to the duck's shorts released between 1951 ("Dude Duck") and 1961 ("The Litterbug").

So it's not like the series has been totally swept under the rug.

Except they didn't. At least that was not the result. The result was Disney characters acting like Looney Tunes characters on steroids, and the stories consisted of little more than laugh-or-I-shoot humor. The animation was of questionable quality. It didn't look or feel like the old theatrical shorts at all.

I thought Mickey Mouse Works is great too. But I like House of Mouse even more. I just don't understand why House of Mouse isn't a success? Because people are stuuuuuuuuupid! They are stuuuuuuuupid! And don't forget, they are stuuuuupid!

Very true, in fact, it's harder for CN to air the Looney Tunes since Turner doesn't own the cartoon library, WB owns them and CN has to pay WB in order to air their shorts. Kudos to CN for making that effort. Disney Channel, on the other hand, is very aggravating and confusing. Notice this quote from an article dated back a year and a half ago (the link is below if you want to read the whole thing):

"So it’s not like The Walt Disney Company has completely abandoned Mickey, Jason. It’s just that … Well, rather than going with the old tried-and-true ways (i.e. producing and then releasing new theatrical shorts), they’re now going to where the audience really is these days. Which is online, or at home playing with their Wii or watching the Disney Channel or in the theme parks."

If Disney is really serious about making Mickey and friends relevant to audiences again, then why are they (I'm not counting the preschool show) still getting very little airtime on the Disney Channel? Here's my suggestion for Disney, if they really want to jumpstart Mickey's popularity, air more have a laugh shorts throughout the day and USE that short series to promote some type of 'Ink and Paint Club'-type program with classic disney shorts. I understand that they are really hitting profits with its sitcoms, but why the heck would Disney Channel think anyone would stay up past 12AM watching reruns of shows like Shake It up, when in fact it already aired about 2-3 times at least before 7PM? I guarantee airing the classic shorts overnight would bring in higher (even if by little) ratings than they do now (look at Teenick's 90s are all that block, ratings 60X in one week).

Where did you get your source? Did you do any research on this? Or are you just assuming things out of paranoia? No offense. The only news posted about the new Mickey Mouse movie so far, as DisneyAnimation88 said nicely, is that the storyboards were being prepared for pitch by Burny Mattinson. No one said anything about it being shelved yet, so stop your fussing, please; unless of course you can provide a valid source (opinions/guesses don't count here). Even if it is being considered, it takes long to pitch an idea, these movies are not easy to make, you have to be patient, it's only been almost 11 months since Burny has announced his plan. It could take years for Mickey's new movie to come into full development. If the project is rushed, you can expect the movie's quality to go down the crapper. I want Mickey Mouse to have more opportunities than being confined in that preschool show too, believe me; but you give up hope way too easily. Let's try to cheer up a bit, shall we?

That's undeniably true, but I know they can be more successful during their 12AM-6AM time blocks. Disney channel's audience is (and should be) most likely sleeping by then. Very few kids would be awake watching this tween drek. In fact more adults would be awake than kids, so it would make sense to reair some of the older shows they grew up with then. I don't know, I guess a Vault Disney type block wouldn't fit well on the Disney Channel anymore (given what they air now). They're really just scared to try new things with their scheduling, I guess that's what you get by ONLY aiming to the age 15 and under audience, that's why I have only a 0.000000000001% respect for Disney's TV department. At least Nick (90s block on teenick) and CN (which rotates its old shows every month and has boomerang) were willing to give some variety a shot on their channel/s, and that didn't hurt them one bit. Any chance of seeing any older Disney shows rerun will probably be on the Disney Junior channel (in the graveyard hours, which is better than nothing). I've seen Disney Junior Germany air the full classic shorts, so that may say something about America's Disney Junior in the long run, maybe. We'll wait and see....
