^Let's not use that picture anymore. Although I agree.
Lazario, I find it amazing how polar opposite we are.
I honestly can't, in my brain, wrap my head around the idea that there is a person who is a fan of Disney, in general, and yet does not enjoy the original Beauty and the Beast.

Meh, I don't agree, of course, but god, Nostalgia Chick is HOT! I totally need to start watching her videos. At least until they get too annoying for me to take anymore, since I know I will disagree with her quite a bit if she has the "all Disney sequels are bad" attitude and is the type to rant about Disney princesses.
I will agree that the songs are bad. Most direct to video films do not have good songs. There are exceptions, but apparently the songwriters you get on direct to video budgets are usually not good.
As for the most common argument I've heard, which is about the characters not acting like they would in the film, I just don't agree with that. Actually, the only one I hear about after that statement is made is usually Belle. NC here is saying she wouldn't be trying to change or reach out to Beast in the film, that he had imprisoned her and she would still be all ticked at him and everything. She's neglecting the fact that, if memory serves, this takes place after he saved her from the wolves, which was their big turning point. Not that I support girls trying to "change" guys who are dicks, because it usually is futile (and there are so many nice guys out there), but I can still totally believe it. She had already gotten the impression that there was a good person underneath, and she also was stuck with him, so trying to get friendly with him is just being proactive and making the best out of a bad situation. I'd like to think Belle was a smart enough girl to try and do that. But she was also still strong and defiant the whole time with her insistence on celebrating Christmas. A lot of this stuff is taken out of context for the sake of a bashing review. Also, the running emo gag, you could do the same thing with the first film by taking things out of context too.
Yeah, there are things to complain about in this movie, but there's also the usual b.s. you get from someone determined to dislike something. Like, oh, god, how horrible that it opens with a traditional Christmas song? C'mon, it's a Christmas movie. And, that's at the heart of why I think some of the fans of the original take this movie too hard. This is more of a Christmas Special than anything else. Going into it expecting something theatrical quality is a bit ridiculous. I guess I find it strange that people can't adjust their expectations meter with regards to what market a program is being made for. Could they have done a better job? Sure, but it still can be enjoyable. This is not Hunchback 2. This is actually a pretty good little Christmas program. I don't expect it to be a sequel (or midquel, if you must) at the same quality as the theatrical feature film, but I can enjoy it the same way I can enjoy Aladdin the animated series or something like that, especially if they did a Christmas special. If something like this was released in theaters, THEN I would be upset. Like Jungle Book 2. Ugh. If that were direct to video, I wouldn't have been as upset about that one. It had its moments, but it was not anywhere in the same zone as the original.

I actually agree 100% with NC and find this film a complete and utter abomination.
And all the while we're watching it, Maurice is lost and dying the forrest. (The reason Human Again was cut from the film) So not only is it insulting, it simply does not correspond with the original.
It makes no sense, the animation is awful (especially on Belle, who is this chick?), the songs are dreadful, there is nothing funny about it and the villain is friggin' Tim Curry. Yuck.
I've said all I can say on this. This is probably one my most hated DTV's.

I haven't bought any of these yet, but I'm most certainly going to get Beauty and the Beast. But Bambi? I respect the film more than I like it, and I've got the Platinum Edition already, so I don't see why I should get it, other than for special/bonus features (which are comprised of crappy games and information I can get in easier ways). I don't really see the difference between Blu-Ray and DVD picture quality.

I'll pass it on, but I still have the Platinum Edition DVD from 2002 and a Special Edition also from 2002, but I still don't have "Belle's Magical World" yet, but I will get it after the holidays to see that I have to complete. It also has bonus features including an episode of "Sing Me A Story with Belle" which is included as part of the VHS release called "Belle's Tales of Friendship" in 1999. I haven't seen that show in a long time. Lindsay McLeod as Belle was on there.

I was at Walmart yesterday and there was a special display set out with Disney movies. Bambi and Bambi II were each sealed with a cardboard "border" that said something along the lines of "Last chance to get these before going back into the vault April 30." Beauty and the Beast might have been out on the shelf too but I don't remember.
I already have Bambi on Blu-ray but I recently decided to start collecting the DisneyToon sequels so I'll be getting Bambi II on my birthday in April.
Anyone else still planning to get either Bambi or Beauty and the Beast (or their sequels) before they go back into the vault?
Also, I wonder if Disney will re-release Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas from the vault later this year for Christmas? I find it hard to believe it'd only be around for one holiday season unless it was a horrible seller.

Super Aurora - Once All Access Launches, you will only buy a movie once, and you will own it in all formats, basically forever. So once it's gets remastered or 3dified or whatever, from my understanding it will be an upgrade, as opposed to re-buying the movie. Read some more about it here:

You've made two mistakes there.
First of all, they won't let you "upgrade" anything. You won't get free upgrades to newer formats, that would be plain stupid from Disney's part. They would be killing their Home Video branch right there.
The concept is that when you'll buy the Blu-ray disc for example, you'll also get the digital copy on the cloud, as well as access from multiple devices and ownership of that version for as long as you please.
Secondly, the Disney Vault won't dissappear simply because Disney All Access launches. The movies will still be vaulted, but those who have bought them will be able to watch them again and again, as has always been the case. The only difference is that now you will be able to download the movie or stream it.
The real question is, will Disney pull the digital copies from iTunes on April 30th, or will they continue their Vault strategy even in the digital realm?

I didn't mean a free upgrade. I was thinking more like "pay this much to buy the movie that you don't own yet, or, pay
this much to upgrade your Diamond Edition digital copy that you bought several years ago to the new ____ edition". Sort of like what they do now with the coupons you get when upgrading your old VHS or DVD. Except by that point you won't need to buy a physical edition to upgrade, I'm sure.
And you're right about the Vault. I couldn't really wrap my head around how they could vault a digital copy of something, but then I woke up and understood

I think Enchanted Christmas did well. I know I had a tough time finding a Blu-ray copy for a gift last year, and I haven't seen any since the 1st of the year in stores. I doubt it will be re-released this year for the holidays.
Like you, I just have started to buy the sequels. I went ahead and ordered the Beauty and the Beast ones when I signed up for Disney Movie Club last week. I also ordered the 3D combo (as a commitment title) since its going into the Vault, and I plan to get a 3DTV sometime.
