I'm even more convinced than ever that this is an extraordinarily bad idea.

Yeah, I'm optimistic about this as I tend to be with almost all animated films that come out.

Also, Universal has already started the big marketing push on this thing, even though it doesn't come out until March. I was watching Parks and Recreation last week and the Lorax popped in the corner of the screen.

Why?

Because I personally believe we're in a golden age of animation at the moment. This year alone, I've seen all of the major animated releases (except for Arthur Christmas which I definitely on seeing, and Hoodwinked Two) and the only ones I didn't care for were Puss in Boots and Gnomeo & Juliet. And even those two were slightly above-average.

Ditto last year where Shrek Forever After was the only one that did nothing for me.

You're still basically talking about computer animation, correct?

Nope, I'm talking about kinds of animation. I really liked Winnie the Pooh this year and I am a huge fan of last year's The Illusionist. I have the same amount of respect and adoration for computer animation as I do for hand-drawn and stop-motion.

Just for the hell: does... anyone remember the original Lorax?

Yep, I've read the book and I'm curious to see how they interpret it.

I find interesting that when the Tangled trailers came out, everybody on this board was like "Oh, those trailers are misinterpreting the movie. Don't believe them!" But when a trailer from other studios gets released, nobody says that.

I meant the original adaptation of The Lorax- the CBS special, which Suess himself produced. Although, I imagine it would be a lot like the book.

I'm actualy gon'na see this movie, never read the story or seen the animated verison, but the plot seems engaging, always imagined the Lorax having a mild soft upbeat voice, like Phill Harriss kinda.

I had high hopes for this after the first trailer, but I'm even more excited after seeing trailer 2

Thank you for posting the latest trailer Sotiris, but I'm still 'meh' about this. Nothing to do with this film has really caught my interest.

I actualy enjoyed Horton Hears A Who and The Grinch, especialy the additional background of Grinch hating X-Mas.

Cat in the hat was the worst film I've ever seen, Mkie Meyers was totaly wrong for the part, should've gone with Tim Allen, the plot was a huge mess and it had no heart.

So did anyone actually go see this? We caught it last night. Loved the visuals. Had a lot of great moments I really enjoyed. Some of the gags were cringe-worthy and stood out way too much from the rest of the film. I didn't really care for most of the songs, I'd have actually preferred the route of the initial trailers with the "Reach for the Sun"-type music than the crap that made me scratch my head.

Not sure if I'll pick up the Blu-ray, but probably will at a good price. Loved the Once-ler when he had on the green suit.

I saw it for the first time on Sunday afternoon. End rating: 3 out of 5 stars.
Thoughts: So many things we're done so wrong that the stuff I liked doesn't amount to much. Didn't care much for the present day story besides the visits with the Once-ler. There were too many pointless characters and while I liked the fish they're just gag filler like the Despicable Me minions. The songs were horrible, forced, and continued to muddle the message of the film. Political and environmental agenda aside, for me the lessons dealing with pride, greed, regret and fixing your mistakes were done reasonably well.

Don't really know what was on your mind when you saw "The Lorax", but I will tell you that the songs were not just 'dull filler', as were the fish and other characters.

This film was top notch from the opening sequence to the end credits. I think the voice cast was perfect, and the story was very nicely told. The colors jump off the screen at you, and if you saw this in a good theater with Digital Picture and sound, you would remember how involving the songs were.

I thoroughly enjoyed this film from start to finish, and have seen it three times in the cinema and am anxiously awaiting the announcement for the Blu-ray release.

This film on the Junkie Meter gets a great big, solid 4 out of 5 stars.
