Today, we learned that an Italian politician from the Lega Nord party (coalition partner of primie-minister Berlusconi) in the EU parliament said the motives of the shooter were "inherently true". On talk radio, he praised the Breivik's resistance to the multicultural society. A member of one of the right-wing governing parties in Denmark compared the actions of the killer with average Danish protesting government's policies, which drew sharp criticism from his fellow part members. The 'Jerusalem Post' (Israel's leading newspaper) blamed "the left" for creating an evironment in which Breivik felt he had to commit this heinous act. Meanwhile, Glenn Beck, in his radio show, compared the victims of the massacre, the youth who went to the rally of the Labour Party, with the Hitler Jugend (Hitler Youth). Beck doesn't seem to know that having youth divisions of political parties is very common in Europe.

"Some claim the prisons in Norway are far too soft on criminals compared to the American system but how do the countries compare in the crime rate and recidivism categories? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down."

I also was surprised when I heard it wasn't caused by an Islamic extremist.
I really don't know what kind of message this guy wants to give to the public ! And this is not as near as horrific as the summer camp incident earlier.

He wanted to draw attention to his rightwing-extremist manifesto. And what do you mean by "the summer camp incident earlier"?

@ Jack Skellington: yes, that's the incident we've been talking about on this thread, but I don't understand why you said "this is not near as horrific as the summer camp incident earlier", because that's exactly what we were talking about. The Oslo bomber is the same guy as the summer camp killer.

That's okay; as it happened, people didn't know the two incidents were related. The Norwegian police has been criticised for reacting too slowly, and acoording to this lawyer, the shooter has said he was surprised he was able to reach the isle, because he was expecting to get caught any minute.
