So there was a little controversy. I think her design was fine personally, I mean what else would Ariel wear? A sweater? She lives in the ocean.

And it is definitely mild by today's standards. Jasmine took things to a whole 'nother level.

I would say Jessica, but it depends how you define 'sex appeal'.

For instance, on another forum, someonje pointed out how Georgette from Oliver & Company has 'sex appeal' in the song 'Perfect isn't easy', when the birds look at her behind a screen (when she's changing clothes) and they have their tongues out of their beaks, bigger eyes and then faint upon seeing her. If you count animals, you could say the strippers in The Great Mouse Detective were the first. Or maybe even Peg in Lady and the Tramp? But are they 'heroines'? If you don' t count Tinkerbell, you wouldn't count them either. So then we're back to Jessica.

Anyway, I'd say the first heroine given sexual appeal is Aurora but I'm not sure if she can be considered a heroine.

I always thought Esmeralda was pretty tame for someone who had "Hellfire" written about her.

The only heroine that I ever thought of as consciously sexy would be Jasmine. Tinkerbell and Ursula beat her out though, no doubt.
