"The X Factor" is on a very tough night (Wednesday), so it had better be something exceptionsl.
This week it has two-two-hour premier nights, Wednesday and Thursday. There is a lot of competition on Wednesday night, but Thursday night is a good night for television.
From the promos I have seen, Cowell is in rare form, making people cry, and being very blunt about whether or not they have talent.
I will be DVR'ing it to watch a little later in the evening.

I can't think of anything on Wednesday's that would stand a chance of competing with it.

You evidently don't watch a lot of television series, or you are too young for some of the shows on at the same time on Wednesday.
"Harry's Law" starring Academy Award winner Kathy Bates is back for the second season and it is on at the same time as "X Factor", and the CBS Wednesday line-up is back for its premier week, so that is why I will DVR "X Factor" and watch later in the evening.
Thursday is no problem, so I will probably still DVR it to watch in my own time.

Neither. I'm just not naive. Harry's Law only had mediocre ratings last season, and that was when there was less competition. I like Kathy Bates, but it was just another court drama.

Watched the first hour of "X Factor" and it seems to me to just be a retread of "American Idol" with "The Voice" mixed in.
I did like the fact that there is no age limit, and there were a couple of the contestants who truly have talent and are in their 30s and 40s.
My Wednesday TV lineup is pretty well firmed up, so I have to miss the second hour of "X Factor" live and watch it at a later time, like this morning. Then I realized that I am already recording two shows at 8 pm and 9 pm so I will not get to see the second hour of "X Factor" on Wednesday nights.
My Wednesday TV lineup is: 8 pm - Harry's Law NBC, and Criminal Minds CBS; 9 pm - Restaurant Impossible, Food Network, and CSI (this year with Ted Danson).
Unless one of those shows gets canceled, I will not be watching "X Factor" at the time it is on, but will watch it ON Demand the next day. So I will be able to keep up with the show.
I like the judges, Simon Cowell is same old bully-self, and Paula Abdul and Cheryl Cole are very easy to watch. Never heard of the other judge, so I don't remember his name, he is supposed to be some big shot producer, and then of course I like the pace of the show. Just wish that they would screen the contestants a lot better, like "The Voice" so you only have the cream of the crop to choose from rather than the same old "Idol" people who think they have talent, and don't.

That's exactly what NBC wants you to think.

Watched a little of this last night. Maybe I'm getting tired of reality tv, but I found it boring. The format of the show reminded me of America's Got Talent.

Finished watching all four hours of "The X Factor" and it looks like we might have some pretty good talent on the show, if the first auditions are any sign.
Nicole Hershinger was very good as a judge, although I liked Cheryl Cole's responses better.
Most memorable moments were the very first contestant, 13-year-old Rachel Crow, who brought the judges and the audience to their feet. She was stunning in her stage presence and was more than adorable.
The second most memorable moment was about 40 minutes later when Stacey Francis, a 42-year-old single mother of two, took the stage and did her rendition of Aretha Franklin's "A Natural Woman". Judge L.A. Reid says that he was moved to the core by her voice, while Paula Abdul said " you only have one chance in your life and this is yours" and all four judges gave her a resounding four 'yes' votes.
Some other memorable contestants were Marcus, 20-year-old who was given two years by his parents to make it, made it. The Answer was a vocal trio that knocked me back in my seat with their version of "Rollin' In The Deep". And the ex-druggie Chris, a 28-year-old trash hauler, again brought the audience and judges to their feet with a personal composition called "Young Homey".
All of the above were from the first two-hour show on Wednesday night. Thursday night's show was two-hours worth of basically nothing. This was a throw-away show with Nick Voss, an Elvis wannabe, the only memorable contestant. There was a female contestant who was good but unfortunately I didn't get her name, but she was the only other one that I remember the performance.
"The X Factor" is probably going to be the next big thing. Simon Cowell has put a lot of his expertise into bringing this UK hit show to the US shores. It will be a short run this season with the Grand Finale scheduled the week before Christmas.
Kudos to all the judges for not being too cruel to those who didn't have any talent and for not making us sit through their three minutes of audition. Simon was quick to pull the plug on some of them which was a good thing. I'll be watching this show to see how it goes in its first season.

All I got to say is Geo Godley should get together with Simon's old buddy William Hung and sing a duet of "She Bangs"

I'm from the U.K and The X Factor (U.K Version of course) Is the most anticipated TV program of the year. It's absolutely phenomenal! It's literally front page of every newspaper and It catapulted Cheryl Cole from a member of a cheesy girl group to the Nations Sweet Heart. The country adores her (and so does L'oreal Paris) and the country mourned the lost of her on the show! But the thing that got me the most was when Cheryl was fired from the show the U.K was in uproar! Simon Cowell was getting booed on Britain's Got Talent and The papers were in a frenzy!
The UK Show has gone from this
<img height="224" width="318" src="
http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2010/09/29 ... 36x449.jpg" align="top"><img height="224" width="318" src="

http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2010/10/08 ... 36x300.jpg">
And now this:
<img height="300" width="636" src="
http://img.metro.co.uk/i/pix/2011/08/17 ... 36x300.jpg" align="middle">
The show has got BIGGER, BETTER & SEXIER! In the U.K X Factor gets ratings of 18m max! (which is good ratings for the UK seeing as there is a huge population difference) and compared to the U.S Version I was surprised how bad the ratings were! (Cowell was hoping for a 20m+) It's a real shame but I feel the U.S audience are to familiar with Idol and I just can't see X Factor being as big as it is here other in the States!
<img height="300" width="636" src="

I really think Simon hasn't tried his hardest with this show. For every contestant interview and changes from states, British Music plays in the background! The show seems too british and needs to have bigger naming judges! (why have Nicole well Simon was apparently in dicussion with Rihanna, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj and Gaga?)

@DisneyDude2010: Not bad. Some pretty good talent came out that season. I definately agree about the judges this season.
I like the lyrics/meaning behind One Direction - What Makes You Beautiful. Great song! I'm happy it went to number one.

When I heard The X Factor was coming to America, I checked out most of the top two from the past seasons of the British version. The only ones I really liked were Joe McElderry, Rhydian, Shayne Ward, and Matt Cardle, but Olly Murs, G4 and Leon Jackson were okay, too (I’d already been into Leona Lewis previously; she’s a really good one, depending on the songs she’s given).
Anyway, besides Stacy Davis on the first day of auditions (the lady who sang “Natural Woman”), this is the first day I saw some people I was halfway interested in. Definitely liked Josh Krajcik (“At Last”) and Skyler Henderson (the country guy). The dueting couple has potential, and that Bieber-fan actually made a nice arrangement of “Baby.” This show is moving very quickly--this is the last auditions week. Looking forward to the coming weeks!

I PM'd DisneyDude about the bandwidth being enlarged because he didn't post his pictures correctly, but he seems to have ignored me completely. Any mod can fix it, but I guess it doesn't matter.

Well, the auditions are over for this year's "The 'X' Factor" and next week starts what they call 'Boot Camp', where the several hundred people who made it through their first audition will be trimmed down to the Top 32.
Will be fun next week watching the Judges being assigned what group of people they will handle and groom for the shakedown.
This show needs to quite being like 'American Idol' and more like "The Voice" as far as contestants tryouts are concerned. What I liked most about 'The Voice' was the fact we didn't get any junk thrown at us, those people had already been screened out and just the cream of the crop was on the stage to try to win a spot on one of the four judges teams.
I am sure Simon Cowell will recognize these shortcomings, and fix the show next year, but for now let's just get on with the Boot Camp part of "X Factor" and see what cream rises to the top.
It all will be over the week before Christmas, so we have some quick weeks to get into the Top 32, when America gets to vote for their choice of the act with 'The X Factor'.

Well it is now official whom gets whom as far as the team mentors go!!!
Last night's show was brutal for those who got cut, and the 32 who made it are in for a whirlwind of training in various parts of the world.
Simon Cowell will be mentoring the girls in Southern France.
LA Reid will be mentoring the boys in New York.
Nicole has the Over 30 boys and girls.
Paula has the groups.
Of all of them, I believe that Paula is going to be challenged by the groups to the point where she will cry for help.
I am totally satisfied with the choices for the Top 32 and can't wait for the chance to vote for my favorites.

I wonder why they didn't give Paula the over 30s. They possibly thought she could choreograph for the groups, but Nicole would actually fit better considering she was in a group (even if it was a sucky group, she does have experience). I have a feeling Paula's acts--especially that one huge group the judges made--will probably end up as trainwrecks. Regardless, I'm so glad Nicole didn't get the girls. She seems to hate all the women for some reason, especially the young, attractive ones.

I only just saw part 1 of the Judges’ Houses round, because of a ball game delay yesterday.
I think the girls really are the strongest, thankfully. I enjoyed all 4 of the ones shown tonight (Drew, especially) and they haven’t even got to Melanie Amaro yet. The girl who did “Satisfaction” was a Gaga clone though, with the rock-infused dance music, the curled blonde hair and bright red lipstick; even her voice was similar.
Didn’t really care for any of the over ‘30s. Stacey Davis has went down my list farther and farther every time I see her. She was borderline screaming “Purple Rain.”
I liked the one three-boy group (The Answer) the best of Paula’s. I kind of liked the 4-girl group (Lakota Rain), too, although they need to work on their stage presence, harmonizing, etc. They were awful in the chorus. The two-brothers-group was horrible. I think the older brother would’ve stood a better chance if he had come onto the show solo (his hair is gorgeous, btw).
Of the boys, I enjoyed Phillip Lomax’s version of “Don’t Stop the Music.” Unfortunately, I think Skyler killed his chances on “Nobody Knows,” though I love that song and I would’ve thought he’d have done good with it.
Can’t wait for the next show!

I sometimes wonder if The X-Factor is going to have a second season. The Voice got much better ratings than this show. Maybe Simon Cowell popularity coming down?
