La Luna is one of my favourite Pixar shorts. It's not really gag-based (like some other shorts); it's warm, and sweet, and builds to a really nice finish. I can't really say much more than that, other than I don't think people will be disappointed.

Yessir! In the interview posted above, the director said they used water colors for a lot of the textures and pastels for the sky. Looking at the screens we have so far, I don't see it.. but they are all low quality. He said they wanted to take the "3D sheen" off the models and make them more simple and textured. It's a really good read.

He seems like a nice guy and is inspired heavily by Miyazaki.

^ That link isn't working but you are right! The director said he was used Laputa as a reference. The father also looks a lot like the father from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. ... but that movie was terrible.
