Yes, it will be a musical too but the composer and lyricist for that project have already been assigned. A.R. Rahman will compose the songs and the score and Stephen Schwartz will write the lyrics. The film is based on the Hindu poem “The Ramayana".

You know, Stephen should work with Alan again. And hopefully ASAP

They are supposed to be working on the Broadway version of
The Hunchback of Notre Dame. However, we have not been hearing anything about this project so I'm unaware of its production status. I just hope Disney has not shelved it.

Unfortunately,
Sister Act didn't win any Tonys and Alan seems a bit disappointed:

I don't think anybody was surprised The Book of Mormon won. And personally, I think Mormon deserved it. I just can't stop listening to the cast recording.

It's simply a better musical than Sister Act. I also am addicted to the cast recording. Happy they sweeped the Tony's.

I'll be honest, I only heard one of the songs on a Showtunes radio station. So I wouldn't know entirely if it was all that deserving. Heck, I didn't really listen to the Sister Act cast either. So, all in all, I wouldn't know.

Composer Alan Menken on Aladdin's Whole New World on the Stage
http://www.talkinbroadway.com/regional/ ... se484.html
What's next on the composer's plate? It would be quicker to say what isn't.
"The next one is coming right up, the stage version of Newsies which Harvey Fierstein is writing the book for, and Stephen Schwartz and my Hunchback of Notre Dame—I think I'll let Disney announce more on who's working on that. I get in trouble when I get ahead of them. I have a song "Star Spangled Man With a Plan" in the film Captain America opening the day after this does.
I have a new animated musical, but I won't say more than that. Harvey Fierstein and I are talking about a new musical, and I'm still trying to bring Howard and my first musical God Bless You, Mrs. Rosewater back to the stage. A planned Canadian production of the musical Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, which I wrote with David Spencer, should happen in the next year. Leap of Faith, which we did in California, is being very, very reworked, and I look forward at some point in my life getting in a vacation at my house in the Caribbean. And just hide."

Alan Menken wrote on Twitter that he's involved in the upcoming movie Mirror Mirror without saying what his involvement is exactly. I think he's probably composing the score or writing an end-credits song.

Now I am interested in "Mirror Mirror" for sure!^^ Please let it be a Menken-score & end credit song...

Mirror, Mirror looks atrocious.
There's no spinning that performance by Julia Roberts. I had high hopes after the poor trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman, but my God, it was even worse than that.
