Yeah, I was gonna say... if that was any sort of criterion, there'd be a lot of movies not getting Blu-ray releases. A financial flop will hardly stop them from putting out a hi-def version.

Wow this movie is looking to be Disney's biggest flop ticket wise.

This will come nowhere near Disney's biggest bombs (ticket-wise). Not even close.

Obviously this will get a Blu-ray release everywhere, no matter how it does at the box office. Just look at Mars Needs Moms; one of the biggest bombs in history yet it still gets a BD release everywhere. Pooh is also more marketable, and not ugly (opinion!) like Mars Needs Moms is.

Let's not be too pessimistic here, despite the fact that the only real successes Disney has had over the past six or so months were Tangled and Gnomeo and Juliet (both of which they had little to no faith in, which shows how much they're out of touch with the audiences). I do think it's pretty ironic that films with one specific set demographic underperform (TRON: Legacy, Prom -among others). It seems to be more and more about securing a core demographic rather than making a good movie.

"Winnie the Pooh" always felt like an odd choice to make as a big summer movie. It feels like after going nuts trying to get boys to see "Tangled" they pull a 180 go around and make a movie with an incredibly limited audience. Not that I'm saying they shouldn't be trying different things, but like... how well were they hoping this would do? And how many boys first grade and up (hell, girls too) would be caught dead at this movie?

The DVD has already been released in Italy (no Blu-ray release) but the release dates for Germany and France have been pushed back.

Instead of August 18, the DVD will now be released in Germany on October 13. In France, the initial released date, August 13, has been pushed back to August 24.

Still there is no sign of a Blu-ray release in any of these countries.

Along with Italy, Germany, and France that will not be getting a Blu-ray release of the new Winnie the Pooh film, UK seems to be joining them as the film is currently set for a DVD only release there on August 22, 2011.

It looks like corporate is looking to give Pooh a quiet "in and out release" in theaters in order to invest the least amount of money in it as possible. That's pretty sad for a film that's an official member of WDFA film canon. Quiet "in and out" theatrical releases are for cheaply done kid movies that should've been DTV to begin with, not for Disney Animated Classics.

If Brazil is getting a Blu-ray release, then probably other South American countries will get it too. I still don't understand why they won't release the film on Blu-ray in Europe. :?

^That Pooh plush looks weird :? If Mexico is getting a Blu-ray, that means that the other South American countries will get one as well. So, it's just no Blu-ray for Europe? Why?

It's a Pook A Looz plush. Disney invested a lot of money in them and then they didn't do very well.

If that is the case I am going to be royally pissed off.
