I am sure Escapay will have something to say about this. But the way they age the kids on the soap operas, name one, they all do it. On General Hostpital for instance just two years ago, Michael was about 12 when he was shot and they placed him in a hospital and lo and behold just a few months later he is revived from his coma and is now a young man (different actor) and I believe he was 20, but still Sonny Corinthos calls him son. That is just wrong. If fact all the kids on that show have grown up too quickly, except for Robin Scorpio, she grew with the show, which was amazing, because characters like Lulu and others were born and grew up over a couple of seasons.
If the Soaps could just portray real life a lot more "real" then maybe we all might have something constructive to talk about. I still insist, and I watched the show from the very beginning that "All My Children" star Susan Lucci, who has been with the show since the beginning has been through a lot, and I distinctly remember her tubal pregnancy that resulted in a hysterectomy, which would prevent her from having any other children. That along with the abortion story caused quite a stir, but ABC quickly got over it, and brought in some other characters.
Also I remember on General Hospital when Luke Spencer raped Laura and then they ended up getting married, which was the highest rated daytime wedding show on television.
But back to the shows being canceled for sure, "AMC", and "One Life To Live". They are two shows that I got hooked on in the hospital after I had a motorcycle accident. I managed to shake loose of General Hopital rather easily, but I hung on to OLTL and AMC for a long time, and just in recent years have finally given up on them both because of their unrealistic characters and situations and plot lines that must have been written by someone who didn't know what the heck was going on at any particular time.
I got sick of the multiple personalities shows and was relieved when Erika Slezak herself spoke out about that character and she has been free of that for several years. I understand that Nicky has come back again, and I am glad that I am not stuck on having to watch the show, because I would not be a happy camper. My wife watches them regularly and I get updates on an almost daily basis from her.
