I wouldn't want them to rush it, this is def 3D material ! I'm sure if B&TB and TLK sell fast in 3D, then this would be the next one on their list.

Maybe they already started work on it? I dunno if they deem it important enough for 3D though.
But hey, if we're beyond extremely lucky, they might include one or two song performances from the musical. Dreamworks did that with the Shrek Box Set and I was sold on that show.

You shouldnt get your hopes up. Wikipedia is more reliable than Disney Wikia. I posted a while back how someone made an entire page claiming that there were all kinds of special editions coming with crazy titles and after I posted the link it was immediately removed. 20 is a big year for a movie so hopefully it gets a release

Gosh, I know. My sister was born the year it came out, and she's moving into her dorm on Monday. I'm just like, what-when did this happen?! It makes me feel so old being able to remember seeing that movie in theaters, even.

Can't believe this movie is almost twenty years old (another year and three months). Man, do I feel old. I would much prefer a Diamond Edition to an Anniversary Edition though. Why is this film suddenly getting shunned from a decent release?

I don't know.. the Platinum DVD didn't do very well. Maybe that has something to do with it. :shrugs:
But I do agree, I don't really understand their logic for cutting from the Diamond line. Seems like today it would sell extremely well. At this point, though, all I care about is it getting released to Blu.

There's no real correlation between "Diamond Edition" and "decent release" anymore. "Alice in Wonderland" had a release easily equal to "Bambi" on Blu-ray and it didn't have some goofy name slapped on to it.

I agree. Dumbo and Fantasia are the same, and Pocahontas, and Aladdin will probably be quite good releases as well.

(They're nowhere near as good as the original, but I do like
The Return of Jafar).
There really isn't even any direct confirmation that Aladdin is coming to blu soon. I would assume that the sequels would recieve a new release, but would you
really want to see Return of Jafar on blu? It kinda looks disgusting on DVD. King of Thieves could look nice on blu though. It'd be nice if they were released together as a combo pack, but if the Beauty and the Beast sequels are an indication we might end up getting individual releases.

There's only so much you can do to it considering it wasn't caps (as far as I remember)
I think they should go in and do that digital texturing for the magic carpet. it annoyed the heck out of me seeing it all simplified like that. Probably not worth the time/money needed to do it though.

The issue with Return of Jafar's animation kinda sucks considering it's really not a bad story. It would be amazing if Disney Toon Studios could go back and literally re-animate the whole thing. I really enjoyed the animation they produced for Cinderella III, Ariel's Beginning, and Bambi II. Can you imagine Return of Jafar looking like those later ones?

Totally agreeing on this one!
And better yet, if Walt Disney Animation had produced the sequels to Aladdin, Mulan, Hercules etc the way Pixar made Toy Story 2 & 3 and Cars 2.

I really don't see them doing that, but it would be cool. We have to remember however, that unlike a lot of the other DTV movies, this one was also sort of the unofficial pilot for the "Aladdin: The Series" cartoon show. So, looking at it from that view, the animation is spot on.

Was there an Aladdin Platinum Discussion Thread at the time of release in '04, like there has been for all of the releases since I've been here? I can't get it to come up in any search.
Could anyone post a link, or bump it?
