Why not some Disney operas? There is some really great material there. Who wouldnt love an animated Don Giovanni? or Ride of the Valkyries?

Whats Opera Doc? is still my favourite animated short

yeah! great idea, the world is yet to see an animated opera, something like Mozart's Magic Flute would be really beautiful to see... but, not in our life time though, well, not in the next 10 years or something, cause a movie like that would bomb terribly in theaters nowdays.

I'd love to see one of my favourite fairy tales, Abjornsen and Moe's "East of the Sun and West of the Moon," made into a hand-drawn animated classic. Can you imagine the scenery? And the bear? It would be so beautiful. They'll probably have to wait a long while before they put that one out, though. Also, I'd like to see Disney take a faithful stab at another Andersen. I hope they do the Snow Queen.

If Studio Ghibli hadn't done it, I'd say Howl's Moving Castle. It looks like they're going that direction with Mort, though, so that's good.

I would love to see the Snow Queen done. I think it screams Walt Disney. Personally, Rumpletstiltskin would be hard to adapt in my opinion. I'd love to see them try to tackle it though. I'm not sure that Hansel and Gretel would work too well, but I could be wrong. I'd personally love to see them go back through the Grimm's catalog and see what they can dig up. I'm sure there are a few classics waiting to happen.

Rowling would write a book of fairy tales in the vain of the Brothers Grimm. I'd love to see her work with Disney to adapt them into animated features. In today's culture, we lack these wonderful short fairy tales to read our kids before bed.. or at least new ones. I'd love to see this happen. Disney and Rowling? Incredible.

But didn't you know she already wrote the whole book of Wizard fairy tales, "The Tales of Beedle the Bard", and published it? I own a copy.

I have heard of that. Are the stories any good?

I know I mentioned Momotaro before, but I'd also love to see an adaption of another Japanese folktale called The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. I think I heard somewhere that Studio Ghibli is doing that though.
And suddenly, I want to play Okami again...

Oh, and I doubt Disney would adapt another story with a Chinese setting but, I'd so totally want them to do Journey to the West. It would be freakin' amazing. You know this to be true.
Hell, there's even already a mobile game out starring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, so why not?

Finally, maybe Disney could take some ideas from Scandinavian/Norse mythology? It'd be cool to see them do a story based on the Vikings or Valkyries, but I'm afraid it would get compared to How to Train Your Dragon.

Exactly! I'd love to see her do the sane thing minus the wizardry and I'm larger quantity. Princesses, princes, evil villains, dashing heroes... I'd love to see her pair with Disney on an original fairy tale.

I would dare to say that i would like to see a Disney mature animated film (like the Prince of Egypt without the funny scenes) on the life of Jesus Christ!

Well I think we could cut Ramayana out of the list of future Disney animated possible movies. I'm not sure this is real or not: (the website's french)

So basically what the article says is that Katzenberg has decided start production on Ramayana, in the inspiration of Bollywood movies. Which means it will be a musical, and Stephen Schwartz would be pegged as the composer...

I was thinking the other day that it would be cool if Disney made an animated film based on Zorro. The plot of their TV series was similar to that of the Scarlett Pimpernel (which I mentioned previously) in that you had a protagonist who had a "two faces" - bumbling clutz by day/dashing hero by night.

The story could be rife with adventure/sword fights/battles, thus satisfying their supposed desire for more "boy" movies. At the same time they could include a love interest for Zorro and add her to the Disney Princess line even if she weren't really a princess, like Mulan.

Not that I am advocating the Disney princess line (I'm personally not a fan) but that would give the line a Hispanic representative, since there currently is no Latina princess.

With the popularity of this forum, I think Disney should try and make a film about us! It is partly a joke, but I think it could probably be a very funny comedy that could spawn many sequels (Which is what we hate!) and do well in theaters.

But seriously, here are my ideas:
* An animated feature about a king who banishes laughter from his kingdom because he thinks it would do very well for his kingdom, but most importantly, for his daughter, Princess Marguerite. Marguerite, with the help of a farmer, will help the king realize that people need happiness and laughter to survive. (A bad idea, I know, it is based of the Russian's The Weeping Princess) Its title will probably be Princess Marguerite, but because Disney does not like that, the title will probably be The Kingdom Without Laughter.
* A live action version of Hansel and Gretel. It will be based off of the "horror" flicks of the 80's. It will probably do the story justice.
*A live action version of The Red Shoes. Probably a little too morbid for a Disney feature, but look at what they did with the Black Cauldron.
* An animated short of A Cricket in the Hearth.

If that ever happened, they should use Ultimate Disney: The Movie Musical (and its many sequels) as the source!

Check out the Powell & Pressburger version from 1948. It's amazing. But yes, I certainly would like to see a direct adaptation of the HCA tale. In the P&P film, the HCA story is only part of the bigger story about a ballerina, a music composer, and their impresario.

Much like the Faerie Tale Theatre episode "The Princess Who Had Never Laughed". I've always thought that story would make a good adaptation to animation, giving a vehicle for a lot of big name comedians.

The thing with the laughing princess sounds good....like there is a lot of potential. But why does the king vanish laughter? Sounds illogical....meaning...there should be a back story to explain it, but i see a lot of potential!
