No offense, but these movies are of the kind 'put them in a paper bag with the title on it, and people will buy it'. Most people are happy when the characters are there, and that's it. They don't care whether they're on model or not, or whether the title has the right font, or why there's only the word 'Disney' above it, instead of 'Walt Disney', or the other way around. Sure, I'd like the original poster art, but most studios don't use those anymore on catalog titles. So the next best thing is a decent cover, and make sure the package inside is top notch.

UPDATE: On the active 'Tangled' thread, zackisthewalrus has posted the cover art for the Blu-ray and combo pack release of the film in the U.S.

However, a release date has not yet been given nor is the title available to pre-order. On amazon.com only the entry of the 4 Disc Combo Pack has been updated with the new artwork.

You know, I really don't give a rat's ass about the Blu-Ray 3D thing. It's just a dumb fad that probably won't even replace Blu-Ray, making it obsolete.

What's the point of Blu-Ray 3D, or 3DTVs? Why bother buying all that equipment when you can just go to the movies to see a 3D film?

I'm guessing because a year from now Tangled won't be showing at the movies, and if it is, not in 3D, and people will still want to experience it (as other films), so to make more money off us, we get home 3D :P

It doesn't help that the 3D's cover looks cooler.... That sunset's really cool. Whatever.

I'm a bit saddened it's single-disc... I hope it's jammed pack at least!

Does Disney usually offer $10 coupons on releases like this, the first time they are on home video?

I bought The Princess and the Frog months after it had come out, so I don't know if they offer $10 coupons on these first-time releases, or just with the re-releases as upgrades.

Amazon.com now has the 3D 4-disc combo available for pre-order at $34.99, but not release date is listed yet: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eimprovemz

Artwork for the regular Blu-ray/DVD combo has also been updated to what was posted above: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/ ... eimprovemz They had previously had the poster with Rapunzel & Flynn peeking out from behind all her hair as the image placeholder for the regular Blu-ray/DVD combo.

Well.. April first is a Friday and movies are generally released on Tuesdays (sometimes Sundays.) I'm pretty sure this is just a hold date until the actual one becomes available.

Is there typically a limited amount of time before a release that Amazon will allow pre-orders to take place? I am not sure how far in advance they take pre-orders, but I'm wondering if we can sort of narrow down a release date based on the fact that they've started taking pre-orders...

Then again, I think they take pre-orders for some video games like a year in advance, so I am not sure if it is even worth thinking about!

The Princess and the Frog was released March 16th, so my guess would be the same for Tangled. Sometime mid-March UNLESS it has stronger legs after the Holidays and stays in theaters a little longer, even then I don't see it running any further than February, so March/early April is the most likely.

The DVD cover art:

Also, a higher quality version of the combo cover art, in case some may want it.

No, this is a cheap rip-off that tries to capitalize on the success of "Tangled".

You can pre-order the 4-Disc version on Amazon.com right now for $29.99, and you can apply an $8 coupon, bringing the price down to $21.99.

If the price decreases below $29.99 before release, you'll get it for even cheaper based on Amazon's pre-order guarantee!

I hope that the two extended songs will be fully animated; I'm led to believe that they were and then cut for timing issues. I'm also looking forward to the storybook openings—their concept art has been floating around, and I wondered what happened to them. (I wonder if Flynn was always going to do the narration, with or without the book?)
