Out of that list, I went with The Rescuers.

But, off the list, I would want to see Melody Time and Fun and Fancy Free the most. I've been enamored with their visuals since the THX VHS's and think they would be stunning additions to Blu-Ray. Since Snow White and Pinocchio have already gotten Blu-Ray'd, I think those films deserve to be as well.

merlinjones, this is a list concerning animated classics, so that's the reason why so many of those films weren't in the list.

I voted for Aladdin, but I agree that The Hunchback of Notre Dame may be deserving of going on Blu-Ray after having been given the shaft over the past few years, and for not getting a direct digital transfer last time. I predict that Aladdin will come out soon enough.

But I do have to wonder though; movies like The Fox and the Hound, Robin Hood, Oliver and Company, have all had some sort of Special Edition. And from what I gather from the boads and such, they arnt half as loved as Herc or Hunchback. So what gives ? Why have they been so disgustingly neglected all these years ?

Having said that, the special editions for said films aren't exactly special. For the most part, they're just rehashes of the original DVDs. They may add one or two new things, but for the most part they'll just have games or, if we're lucky, deleted scenes. Disney is really just trying to make a quick buck, as they know that the majority of fans won't get too upset if they can't have a two-disc special edition of, say, Oliver and Company, and even the better and more appreciated films from the time frame (The Aristocats, Robin Hood) can have the excuse of still not being a great priority overall and no longer having key people in the production around. I think that Disney realises if they gave Hunchback or Hercules comparable editions to the 70s and 80s films, there'd be greater uproar, as fans know that there are laserdisc features (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), or that new features could very easily be made (Hercules). It is a shame that they both got the shaft though, especially Hunchback. Pocahontas' special edition basically recycles all that was on the collector's laserdisc, so there's proof that it can be done. And there was a Hunchback collector's edition listed on Disney's website for a few hours way back when, meaning that it didn't not cross their minds.

The reason they've been ignored is because the honchos at Disney know that people want some sort of special edition of these movies and they're holding out on us to hype up sales when they do eventually come out. That's the best I can offer...

I know some of the releases arent exactly 'Special' but at least they have been given a treatment. The Black Cauldron bonus selection wasnt overwhelming, but the picture quality was wonderful. That is also important when regarding a re release.

I know I am not going to be happy until both Herc and Hunch have been released in a presentation that they deserve. As you have also said, unlike some of the Walt era mediocre rereleases, everyone who worked on these productions are still around, and most are still working for Disney. So there really is no excuse.

I feel Disney should be renamed Di$ney (a la Ke$ha) for all of their money grabbing ways sometimes ...

Basically, anything with the Disney logo could be considered "legal rape".

Please don't take this as offensive, I mean it as a joke....and if you think about it, it's the truth.

I voted for Pocahontas because I absolutely love that movie. In particular, I really like the score. I hope they release it with the original version as well as the extended version. I know some people would want it in it's original form but I think that "If I Never Knew You" adds so much emotion.

I agree, it makes the movie so much better, and I already loved it. The end gets me EVERY time.
